I went to Moonlight for the first time three weeks ago, and I had a wonderful experience. Which is why, today I recommended the place to my friend and her two 11 years old daughters. All four of us went into moonlight in a great mood, expecting to have a pleasant experience.
Unfortunately, that is not what we received. We ordered a beef BBQ to share for me and one of the girls. A chicken and rice for the other child. As well as a shrimp bento for my friend.
The waitress took our order, brought our drinks, and gave us wooden chopsticks. The chopsticks must have been the cheapest ones ever since I immediately got a centimeter long piece of wood stuck under my skin. After I removed the wood from my palm, I showed to the waitress and asked for metal chopsticks. (The last time I went to this restaurant they had metal ones.) The waitress brought us all metal chopsticks. From here on, we were all hoping the unpleasantness would end. However, they have just began.
The chicken and rice arrived on time, but we didn't receive any of our other orders. We have waited for over an hour for the Korean BBQ, which in case you haven't known is RAW MEAT. We rang the bell several times for the waitress, but no one came to explain the delay. We finally got the meat, but it came without the rice. We had to wait another 20 minutes for the rice to arrive. All the while we still haven't received the bento box we ordered. By the time it finally arrived we were ready to leave and told the owner we were no longer interested. We asked for the bill, and a take out box (which we never received).
When the bill arrived. The price for the Korean BBQ was double what it was on the menu. When we asked why, we were told because we were served two portions. This is when I really started to feel frustrated. When we ordered we sspecifically asked for one portion because the kids don't eat a lot. The owner started to argue and yell at us. He said we have to order two and that this is the price per person. I asked for the menu, opened the page of the BBQ and asked him to show where it says you order two (it doesn't). The owner continues to yell and say "you eat, you pay". (BTW we didn't eat all the meat, since as I have mentioned the kids don't eat much).
I started yelling as well, since I was so fed up with whole thing. I had to wait so long for RAW MEAT, charged double what it says on the menu, and get yell at? We didn't have the energy to continue this argument. We paid, and left no tip.
The owner was yelling so much that he scared the kids, so much so they had to wait for us at the exit.

Read moreMy youngest and I have visited this restaurant for lunch twice in the last few weeks and we would highly recommend it anyone, even if you've never tasted Korean food before! The atmosphere when you enter is quiet and takes you out of the hustle and bustle of the nearby area very well. We were escorted to one of the private booths and the restaurant is covered with tasteful prints, ornaments and is beautifully decorated. The booths cater for BBQ your own food, with a plate in the middle, and both the crockery and cutlery provided is absolutely beautiful. The server was wonderfully efficient and friendly, and could not have done a better job. We ordered a hot plate of spicy chicken and my youngest beef bone soup on both occasions. Rice came with the meals, but we also received tea, kimchi, and two other plates of accompanying vegetables. Everything was absolutely delicious, HUGE portions which will satisfy the biggest appetites. Even better, the bill for this, with two drinks, came to only $38, which I think is an excellent bargain, considering the quality of the food. I really can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. There is also always parking available outside. Overall, a lovely place to go to if you want a tasty, value for money lunch. We...
Read moreJust finished our first time dining here, could not have asked for a better experience. Clean comfortable quiet setting, nice soft music, very genuinely kind service, and the food was exceptional. We were served by the owner. Decent portion and price is very fair. We had squid bibimbap, and squid was cooked to perfection. Also tried the Ark shellfish, as apparently only restaurant that has it in Toronto (maybe North America?) and it was extra delicious. A must try if you like clams! Highly recommended and definitely will be returning with...
