Cozy Kensington brunch spot. Staff were super accommodating in ensuring my party of three were able to move to a larger table without having to ask
Ordered the Nashville chicken & waffle, carrot cake pancake, and a we the north classic breakfast dish.
Nashville waffle looked exactly like the photos you see in other reviews and was a good portion, but was super dry as it only had a light drizzle of sauce. Ended up having to use a ton of house hot sauce to get it down so felt more like eating two extra crispy pieces of dry fried chicken than a Nashville chicken and waffle. Definitely ask for extra Nashville sauce on the side if you order this
Carrot cake waffle looked kinda sad with four little dollops of icing and seemed underwhelming on the presentation. Taste was okay and almost like an in between sweet dish given how little icing there was
The we the North was also okay but nothing noteworthy.
Overall wouldn’t order any of those dishes again as we were all expecting a better brunch experience given the high reviews. Then the cherry on top was that I got smoked in the back of the head from a plate a waitress was walking out of the kitchen with (I wasn’t moving) to which she apologized and asked if I was okay, but then said it’s tight in here as I should expect that to happen lol. Would’ve been nice if she got me a pack of ice and took care of a dish for that, but is what it is.
Maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes and accidents happen but overall don’t think this lived up to the Google rating and felt obliged to make this review to...
Read moreQuite disappointed about my brunch here. Based on reviews you’d expect better food.
We had a table for 4 people, we got served fast, staff were good, place looked promising, kinda hipster-ish.
Disappointment started as the food got served. Generally it looked kinda poor… A “today’s special salad” main ingredients were supposed to be: an avocado, goat cheese, strawberries but it was mostly a bunch of lettuce, croutons and red onion. It had probably less than a quarter of a VERY hard avocado, 1 little strawberry and a teaspoon of goat cheese that looked like feta crumbs… Um…? The (I assume) lady owner said they will replace the avocado for me and my friend but it took long enough for us to finish eating. They also were making lots of uneasy comments all throughout our staying on how they are having a bad experience with stock and about “scraping” the avocado for us and “we should probably change the salad tomorrow, ha-ha…”. I was quite upset and was tired of hearing all this.
The other dish was a classic brunch with beans and pancakes, potatoes etc. Portion size was not very big. My boyfriend complained that the potatoes were “some good, some very undercooked” and that the meal in general was “okay…”.
I wish them luck and to straighten this out because there is a potential but for now anyone out there can prepare these dishes...
Read moreWe were in for the weekend and stopped here for brunch on our way out of town. I never leave reviews, but we had the best experience, I wanted to share.
We got an Irish breakfast tea and London Fog to drink, and both were exceptional - which says a lot because it’s just a cup of tea. But I’m a bit picky when it comes to good tea - it was piping hot, served alongside milk and sugar (in an actual dish with a teaspoon, not paper bags of sugar), and two biscoff cookies - it was perfect. My husband’s London fog is another one of my favorites (I told him he should order it lol), and it was also to die for. I believe it was topped with crushed rose, and it was so enjoyable to drink. Delish. And made so quickly.
To eat, we split the Guinness and beef Benedict and the rhubarb and cream waffle. Both were SO good and unique. Even the side salad was scrumptious - well dressed. I ate every last morsel of carrot and red onion?? And I’m NOT a big salad-at-breakfast gal - it was just that good and balanced out the meal perfectly.
Our server was sweet, accommodating and friendly. Food came out quickly. It was my favorite meal from our weekend, and I’m so happy...
