Noodlebox — Restaurant in Toronto

On Tuesday December 3, I had a great experience. Great service, great food. Two workers that night and got our food in 10-15 mins. So I decided to go a second time. Unfortunately, on Sunday December 8 I had a horrible experience. I went in person with my 10 month old and husband. I put my order at 6:10pm. No one in front of me. First, they were out of the Peanut sauce. So I ordered 3 different boxes with shrimp. A lady behind me ordered 1 box with beef. The gentleman who took our order left and then some other worker came in to make the food. He was alone. These two men Sunday night were NOT the same men working on Tuesday. After 15 mins, he made the lady's box first. She was confused as to why her order was ready first. She specifically asked the man if this was the beef box. He said yes. She left. Then he finally started our order. We waited an additional 15 mins. So after 30 mins of waiting, we THOUGHT we got our food. As we were leaving the restaurant, that same lady returned. I was in the car about to leave and the man who cooked our food chased us to our car. He got BOTH our orders wrong. He gave the lady our box and gave her box to us. So the lady got her correct box with beef right away and he had to remake ours. The lady who returned told the worker that we should be compensated since we ordered first. She left. I had to wait another 10 MINUTES for him to cook our 3rd box correctly. We asked him why did he make her order first? We told him we placed our order first. I showed him my receipt. His response was, "She only had one box." This is completely unacceptable. Orders should be made First In, First Out. I asked for a refund. He had no clue what I was saying. He said, "Refill?" I said, no! Compensation! He said okay I make you two boxes instead of one. What a joke. I finally got the 3rd box. I didn't leave until 6:50pm with my correct food and now I had a crying baby. ...

Let's first state that I want this business to succeed. There's not a lot of options nearby so I think if they make some tweaks people would probably give you better ratings. Here are my observations. I got the crispy shanghai chicken box, but I found this is the issue with all of the dishes I've tried. Not enough protein. It comes with 5 small pieces of chicken, like they took 1 small chicken finger and chopped it up. Too much sauce and oil. They should reduce both by 50% and they's save money on food cost and improve customer satisfaction. This is probably the most important issue with the food. Portion size is too big. I end up throwing out 1 quarter of the dish every time because it's too much. Id rather they reduce the portion size and give more protein.

When I order the spring roll, it always comes out cold. So that should be easy adjustment to fix.

But the real issue is the sauce, flavors are good but you're over saturating the meal. The bottom of the bowl is always swimming in sauce and is extremely oily. Owners should find the right quantity and force their cooks to use specific ladle size for both oil and sauces used for each dish so the cook doesn't just eye it out. If you are already using specific ladles sizes then reduce that by 50% right away.
