Sunset Grill — Restaurant in Toronto

Went to this place last Sunday with my wife and a guest who had just arrived from out of country. Was nearly 40°C outside so I requested the waiter if he could lower the temperature. His response, “If you feel hot here, guess how I am feeling being in the back”! Stunned but ignored as I could empathize & didn’t want to create a scene. So nicely asked if we could move to another table under the fan (of which they have only 2 in the whole restaurant). Same waiter again tells me he can’t because the table is made to accommodate a party of 5. I requested to speak with the manager/owner & explained that my wife was unable to bear the heat due to asthma & coughs a lot because of the heat. Guess what….the policy prevailed over customer service. We decided not to eat there but we were told that we would have to pay regardless as the food had already been prepared & they could pack it & give it to us which we can then “go & eat at home”! “Poor customer service” would be an understatement for this place - “pathetic” might be the right fit. We used to come here every month but I do not believe that a place like this deserves my business & unless you are REALLY dying of hunger, avoid it. There are better places in the vicinity for food & another Sunset Grill nearby as well. Never setting foot in this place again. The one star is for the food...

If I could give minus 2 stars I would. I have never had a good experience ordering delivery from Sunset. Every time I order they ignore what I've ordered. First time I ordered a fruit salad, they didn't send it. Second I ordered, I opted from no potatoes because they are flavourless and bland, they sent them. I didn't eat them but like come on, read the order ticket. I placed an order on Tuesday December 27th. I ordered the sunset sandwich with has a fried egg, your choice of meat and cheese on the brioche bun. What I got was peameal (the meat I chose) tomatoes, and lettuce. How the heck does your cook not know what they're making or what's on the menu? When I called to complain, the person I spoke to seemed unapologetic, really didn't care. Now I work in a business in the plaza, and whenever we have someone contact us about an error or a less than satisfactory order we always replace it. Put their name down and make sure they know how sorry we are and they can come by and get a remake any time, any day. I wasn't offered this, I was barely offered an apology. Disappointed to have lunch inside. I was so happy to finally see a restaurant that has patio opened in my neighbourhood.

I went there on a Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Beautiful summer day. The restaurant closes at 3:30.  The patio was closed, I mean with chains around chairs, tables and umbrellas. They said they don't have enough customers to keep it opened. Is this a reason? Other restaurants might not have customers inside but the patios are full.

Even there were enough servers, no staff shortage and only few customers, they were slow taking our order and they even apologized. But the food was good.

When we were half way through our meal they brought us the bill and they apologized again saying that they don't rush us. So again, very few customers and another almost an hour to closing. We wanted to order something else but we gave up.

More than an hour before closing they started sweeping and washing the floors and the washrooms.
