We had âpre-lunchâ there following the instagram notice about acarajĂ© served this weekend. We ordered acarajĂ© for two, two chicken coxinha and one tiny bottle of Perrier. The bill was $90 including tax. It was unbelievable. A plastic tray of re-heated 6 small, barely warm acarajĂ© with a bit of salsa and mashed beans was $27 per person. If acarajĂ© included shrimp, as the proper Bahia ones do, I would possibly let it go. However, what we got was not worth more than $12-$14 at the most. I donât even remember the price of the individual coxinha which were good and those I would recommend. Unfortunately, it was a very surprising and disappointing experience. I was there with a native Brazilian who still cannot believe what he was served and the price he payed for it. And this happened a day after we had watched a beautiful documentary on street food in Salvador, Bahia which featured acarajĂ© in its all delicious glory. Somehow, they can make it fresh on the streets there and fill it with delicious shrimp, but they...
Read moreIâve been to this place a few times already. The food is so beautifully presented! The cakes are gorgeous! The emails i get every time, its one more beautiful than the other. Iâve ordered two cakes already on different occasions, tried a bunch of its staple snacks such as coxinha, empada, pao de queijo etc the sweets as well⊠bought the frozen ones to go, for us, for friends⊠various occasions! BUT⊠honestly the food is very standard IMO⊠its just because there arenât many places for Brazilian goodies. Thereâs always something off⊠The cakes were beautiful, but a little dry⊠for the coxinha, the dough is not great, any coxinha in brazil would be a million times better⊠I mean, its an ok place to go and grab something if youâre home sick, but i wish it was just a little bit better and more authentic flavor wise. They should improve some recipes specially the coxinha⊠so...
Read moreThis place is making me smile so hard that Iâm worried about getting wrinkles! I canât even begin to describe the deliciousness of all the treats you can find at this shop. Of course, kick it off with the pao de queijo - What an absolute treat in every way! The cheese explosion, the tender center with slight crunchy exterior is something to make you giggle with every bite - Itâs that good! Do yourself a favour and give a try to all of these treats outside of anything youâve tried before. Whatever savoury goods you try, it would be a HUGE mistake to miss out on two amazing treats - The Brigadeiro and Tarts (the Maracuya one will make you weak at the knees - absolute explosion of flavour). If you donât try this place out and give a chance to everything they have, then youâre a fool. Plain and simple - Do yourself a...
