Located in Kensington Market, this café offers both front and back patios, with ample workspace and accessible outlets for electronic devices. A medium latte costs $5 (before tax and tip), and while the drink quality is solid, the selection is fairly average.
The interior has a minimalist look, with functional seats and a casual, unpretentious atmosphere. While this simplicity may appeal to some, others might find it lacking in character or intentional design. A "grenade" art piece (see picture) at the entrance seems to convey a political message, which could be potentially off-putting for some.
The back patio has a welcoming, homey atmosphere, enhanced by shade from apple trees. However, the lack of air conditioning can make the indoor space uncomfortably stuffy on hot days.
Pastry options are limited, and while the quality is decent, it's not a highlight. Service is functional but lacks warmth or engagement. Cleanliness is average overall. There are several washrooms in the basement, but they're only accessible via stairs, which may present a challenge for...
Read moreI came during summer for coffee in their patio and it was nice outside. The coffee they use is top shelf, the shade under the tree was pleasant. I had a good and quiet time catching up with a friend.
I came back during winter at night for tea and brownie and everything was tasty, again the coffee shop part of this establishement seems to be what works for them. Because when tea time turned into happy hour with friends, the experience turned into something very different. Payed too much for mulled wine and white wine that were honestly just straight up flavourless. They tasted like cooking wine and the servers didn't seemed experienced enough to be of help in recommending anything from the drinking menu. For a random Tuesday night the place was LOUD, probably due to the fact that is a shoe box made of concrete, at some point we could't hear each other talk at all, so we had to leave somewhere else and it wasn't even 8pm yet.
I may come back for a coffee again during the day, but a hard pass on drinks in...
Read moreThe barista at the counter was the most unhappy person I’ve ever met. When my boyfriend was about to tell her the sugar and milk for his coffee, she interrupted and told him it was on the side. When I had asked about pastries, she didn’t follow up to see if I wanted one and tried to cash us out with just our drinks. Didn’t ask if I wanted my matcha sweetened. (Though the latter two points are purely customer service expectations and not mandatory). No “thank you”’s, smiles or any welcoming gestures the entire time we were here.
The americano was very watered down. Since it was iced, the sugar didn’t melt so I feel like when getting a drink iced, they should help us put the sweeteners in. They basically pour a hot americano over ice but doing so melts almost all the ice, making it a very watered down americano. Though I usually like my matcha sweetened, their matcha is pleasantly not that bitter. However, my entire cup was filled with ice. The chocolate chip cookie was good but who can...
