Very disappointed in Petty Cash. My brother had his 28th birthday here and we bought 2 bottles and had around 15 people. We were having an amazing time. Around 1am my fiancé and his brother were walking outside for some fresh air, as they were walking out, one of the bouncers, tall, long beard middle eastern looking man, pushed his brother from behind for no reason as they were walking up the stairs. My fiancé turned to another bouncer who had witnessed the incident and said to him why is this bouncer pushing my brother for no reason. He had said I know I’m sorry about that, don’t worry just keep going. At that point when they were about to walk back in, 3 employees in the front, one named Brad told them they cannot come back in. Once I heard about this I went outside and was trying to understand the reason. The bouncers had no actual good explanation to not let them back in. I had explained we had a reservation for my brothers birthday, we spent good money, and they were not causing any issues inside. The bouncer started the issue because he knew my fiancés brother from 6 years ago, and that incident was also the bouncers fault at that time and the restaurant ended up apologizing to my fiancé’s brother back then. I ended up calling Petty cash to rectify this situation as it was extremely upsetting and unfair. I told them I’d rather speak to them directly then write a public review. I wanted to give them a chance to solve this issue. However, they had never called me back and ignored my email. This isn’t a club, it’s a restaurant that is owned by a hospitality company (honeycomb) and there was no hospitality or even basic conflict resolution skills. There was a complete lack of professionalism that night and even after by not respectfully calling me back. Brad could have went inside spoke with the bouncer that witnessed it and tried to solve the issue especially because we were guests. I use to recommend this place to everyone I knew who wanted to do something for a birthday or just go out but not anymore. There is no reason to be disrespectful and violent to anyone coming into your establishment when they are minding their own business. There should be consequences to employees who do that because it’s assault at the end of the day and if you are marketing yourselves as a hospitality group there should be no tolerance for...
Read moreFirst, the good: the music here both times I've been is INSANELY fun, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the staff are mostly very friendly and accommodating. However, there is something very shady about the place's seating policy. We got a table without any mention of a time-limit: the manager, bouncers, and two different servers we dealt with all failed to mention one. There were no signs announcing this policy either. Instead, our server came up to us out of the blue, into our third round of drinks, and told us we were 15 minutes over. When we pointed out other tables where people who were seated when we walked in were still sitting, she said she was going to get them their bills too. When we were standing outside waiting for a cab, two other guests - who had been one spot ahead of us in the line to get in - walked out, having obviously spent longer inside than we had. In the course of chatting with them, we learnt that they had not been told of the supposed 90-minute seating rule, nor had they been asked to leave. I had never heard about this rule before either, though I have been to Petty Cash in the very recent past.
I know that nightclubs are not exactly Exhibit A for the finest human behaviour; but even so, this experience was appalling. I've been to other places with a 90-minute seating policy, and they let you know about it the moment you enter. It would seem that, at Petty Cash, this so-called rule is something they pulled out of their a$$, probably to seat other people who know someone who works there. Scroll through the reviews here and you will find others who've experienced similarly shady practices around seating and removing guests. It is a shame, because the place is otherwise one I would return to very often. Now, I'm not so sure, especially given that my friends - whom I had talked the place up to basis my one previous visit there - left swearing they'll never come back. And what REALLY makes this suck is that many of the people who have left negative reviews here - myself included - seem to be immigrants. If indeed the folks at Petty Cash have a different, lower standard for immigrants, here's a piece of advice: wear your medieval policy on your sleeve and foot the economic consequences of it, rather than living off the money immigrants pay you while...
Read moreBeen going here quite frequently for over a year, as I live in the area. The place has a fun ambience at night and a chill patio
However my most recent visit last night was really unpleasant. I got there around 9:30pm for our first drinks on Saturday night with a few friends and the security at the entrance instantly denied entrance asking if I had reso or willing to buy a bottle service. I said neither and would like to get a regular table for 5. Instead of letting me speak to the server for a space, he told me to pay for a bottle or leave. At this point it was 2 of us speaking, with 3 other friends walking up minutes away. At the same time I saw him let in 3 other groups who had no reso, no bottle. I asked him how come we can't and he replied "you're really going to do that? Let me see your other 3 friends". I was confused, and at the same time my 3 other friends showed up and he looked at them and suddenly told me "I'll let you in this time". I realized that only non people of color were bring let in, which also my other friends happened to be
This was absolutely ridiculous, since I was told tables were only for bottle service at 9pm!!? And I'd been here enough to know that's never the case.
Moreover soon as we were let in without a table since they were "all reserved for bottles", I spoke to a server who said they had 4 tables available and got us one instantly
On our way out around 11pm, I told the security that we got a table with no issues and it was unnecessary to treat us like that, he got aggressive and said "don't fk..n tell me how to run my place, get out and don't come back".
We all know that this place doesn't require bottle purchases for entry at night, so aggressively coercing customers to spend is ridiculous, and moreover to select group is disgusting.
Aside from that, the service inside was quite quick, and polite, but safe to say this was the last...
