Today was our very first experience trying Afghan food, and what a delightful discovery it turned out to be! Upon the recommendation of our Afghani friend, we decided to dine in at Qataghan Kabab and Catering — and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed, especially by Mr. Rashid (I hope I spelled that right — if not, please forgive me!). His hospitality and passion for Afghan cuisine truly elevated our visit. He patiently explained the dishes and guided us through our meal selections with such kindness and enthusiasm. We ordered their Qataghan Kabab Special and the Lamb Chops with rice and salad — both were bursting with flavor, perfectly spiced, and cooked to perfection. To complement the meal, we had their traditional Afghani green tea, which was soothing, aromatic, and refreshing. And of course, we couldn’t leave without trying a dessert! We went for the Afghani Shiryakh, a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth treat topped with pistachios — so rich, so smooth, so unforgettable. Truly a sweet ending to a fantastic meal. A huge thanks to our friend for introducing us to this wonderful cuisine, and a heartfelt shoutout to Mr. Rashid, whose warm smile and generous spirit made us feel right at home. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore authentic Afghan flavors and experience genuine...
Read moreAlright so i am going to say i wanted to give this place a 3.5 but there is no option to do that so i decided to be a little generous..Here is my breakdown
{Item ordered: Salari Taste 4.5 Food 4.5 Freshness 5.0 Staff 5.0 Price 3.5 Other Details Restaurant Location 3.0 Restaurant appearance 2.5}
[I really don’t care too much about location or appearance but we are in covid times and a lot of people find such information helpful].
Now about the food itself, the beef in the meal , the temperature was 5.0, no complaints there, taste was very good too. The chicken skewer lacked taste, but was well done.
My reason for the 3.5 is really the rice and to say the least it was dry.It wouldn’t have been such an issue if the serving size was smaller however if thats the case then it impacts other factors like price. Most places that are similar in servings offer something to compensate for the dryness like butter packs. If this place offers it then they didn’t in my order.
All in all the temperature of the food, and the generous portions and food’s freshness would make me return but i would possibly not order anything with chicken and the ‘yellow white’ rice. I saw the other pictures and there are some other types of rice that look a little more flavourful....
Read moreI had one of the worst dining experiences at this place! From the moment I walked in, it felt like I was being treated as if they were doing me a favor by serving me. I had to repeatedly ask for basic essentials like spoons, forks, napkins, and even the salad that was supposed to be included in my order. When I finally asked for the salad, the person behind the counter had the nerve to ask, "Do you want salad too?" Yes, it's part of my order!
The plate they served the qabuli qataghani on was ridiculous and didn't seem properly washed. The rice and meat were clearly reheated, and the presentation was a mess. It didn’t even look appetizing, let alone taste good. I waited for my food while hungry, only to be completely disappointed.
To top it all off, there was absolutely no customer service! If anything happens to me from eating this poorly prepared food, they’re going to hear from me. This was truly one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I will not be coming back!
NOTE: there reviews seem fake and Google should take action! There should be some negative star for reviews...
