Ruby's Mediterranean Cuisine — Restaurant in Toronto

I went to Eglinton Square and Victoria Park, looking around. Went to Food court and decided to try Mediterranean food. Went to Ruby and ordered mixed shawarma.

Got an excellent portion, that 2 people could eat from. I got rice, coleslaw salad, tabouli salad all topped with 3 slices of tomatoes. Side dish also had new roasted potatoes, with shallots and garlic.

Plenty of chicken and beef shawarma, sprinkled with tahini and garlic sauce. They do deliver too, through Door dash. All cost $13.00 with tax. Excellent food, I strongly recommend it. Ordered their food through Skip the dishes, app told me it will take 27 minutes to deliver.

Actually delivery time is 66 minutes, unacceptable for a fast food restaurant. Called restaurant myself after 45 minutes, was told they are busy and the woman picking up the phone, wrote 3 numbers out of the 9, for the online order and hung up on me.

Upon delivery, courier told me, he had to wait at their location for 30 minutes for my order. This is unacceptable. My mixed shawarma missed 1/2 of the meat, had plenty of spicy potatoes instead, that were supposed to be a side dish, not main dish and were very, very spicy, tabouli salad was missing.

Got refunded for the shawarma. Tried giving some to my son, he said he can't eat that food, way too spicy. I did not order spicy potatoes. I ordered mixed shawarma with potatoes and tabouli, as side dishes.

Until this restaurant fixes their customer service attitude and service, they are being downgraded from 5* to 1*.

Went again recently, purchased 2 beef shawarma, very big, from 1 shawarma 2 people can eat, a mixed salad and was happy. Tried the garlic potatoes, they were good but too spicy for my taste. Am happy to raise the rating to 5*. I believe it is best to order in person than online delivery, as this place is very busy. My picky daughter ate both shawarma and mixed salad, so am happy with my food choice for myself and her. Next time, I will order one shawarma either chicken or beef and the mixed salad that was made of pasta, taboola, chick peas, coleslaw, only 4 spicy potatoes etc. All was very good and fresh, had garlic sauce on the side. Last recommendation go easy with the garlic on the roasted potatoes, less is more and good. I've been visiting this place in the mall for so long I've watched the little boy that was there with his father grow up and now help run the place. The same wonderful people have been running this place for so long that they are like furniture( you notice when someone is missing) The same smiles and good to see you greeting has always met me when I visit for lunch. The food is always fresh and great tasting. The menu may have changed and expanded over the years but my fave has remained. One shawarma wrap,French fries and a Dr.Pepper. Delicious and perfectly filling. Best I've had anywhere. Four years ago I moved away from Scarborough and now I'm there rarely; but each time I visit I do my best to stop in and grab my fave. They have recently announced that they are opening a second location and I am very happy for them. It has taken a long time and with many mis steps but they are forging ahead. I wish them well. I can't have lunch there every weekend but I know they will do well. This place is worth the time spent getting there,the money spent on lunch and sitting and enjoying a great meal.
