Terrible service but cheap food for reasonable quality.
Food: 4/5 Wait time: 1/5 Service: 1/5 Cost: 5/5
First off, the food is good, but don’t expect the best quality. You pay for what you get. I absolutely love the samosas. They’re 5 for $1, which is a steal. It doesn’t have a great deal of filling, but the filling is delicious.
I also got some mithai which was pretty good too. The selection they have is endless.
On to the downsides of this place: Terrible service. They are rude and impatient. If you’re here for the first time, think quickly about what you want. The people working here hate if you faff about. Even though it wasn’t my fault that I didn’t know what the sweets were called and how much they cost, the lady was rude and additionally, really unhelpful when I asked for suggestions and recommendations since it was a gift for someone. I had to rely on their really polite and patient customers to help me out. Would you believe that? Their paying customers are helping Samosa King’s employees do their job.
The reason they’re probably impatient is because there is a MASSIVE lineup. Which could be solved if they had more than 2 or 3 people working the storefront at a time, and more than 1 cash register. I can’t believe how inefficient this place is, to the point where it is disrespectful to their customers that they pass their stress of the long lineup on to the customers for not knowing how to order. You could be in line waiting for 20 minutes for a simple order of 5 samosas. I had requested that my samosas be placed in paper bags to make it easy to carry home. Instead they placed it in a giant box and refused to repackage it for me due to the long lineup. That’s fair, I didn’t want to keep others waiting, but they could have packaged it correctly the first time instead. They just tossed some paper bags my way instead and said I could package it myself.
Overall, the food was good, and I would come back solely for the food. But there are also other places with good food and better service, so Samosa King needs to step up their game. Everything else was a terrible experience, which is why I...
Read moreI visited Samosa King on Dec 27, 2024, at 4:30 PM with my family and had a very disappointing experience with the counter person, Minhaz. I purchased half a pound of sweet wet Bundi, 3 samosas, and 3 wada. By the time the wet Bundi was packed and I reached the counter, the paper bag was completely soaked. I requested a replacement bag, explaining the situation, but Minhaz refused, saying I had to pay 5 cents for another bag. He rudely added that customers should bring their own bags when purchasing snacks.
I tried explaining that the wet Bundi made the bag unusable and that it was their responsibility to ensure proper packaging, but he didn’t listen. Instead, he argued with me and showed zero understanding or empathy. Despite my repeated requests, he stood firm on not providing a proper bag without additional payment.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable in a customer-facing role. The lack of basic courtesy and empathy made the experience frustrating and unpleasant. Owners, please take action to train your staff in customer service and ensure they treat customers respectfully. Such poor behavior can tarnish your reputation and drive customers away. Read moreI was going to give two stars for just the food but the service and the atmosphere dropped this down to one star only. Samosas have gone down in quality by quite a bit throughout the years. You are expected to pay in cash if your order is below $5, which is something you can only find out at the cashiers AFTER you have asked in line and placed your order. The service is incredibly slow. You can expect to wait in line for at least 20 minutes, even if you are only going there for samosas. The staff are even more rude. One elderly customer was voicing their complaint in a very calm manner as he waited 30 minutes, only to be met with an incredibly rude reply by the cashier. His exact words were "I did not ask you to come here. Don't come here if you don't like it. You decided to come and wait and now you're telling me what you don't like? Just don't come." This is no way to talk to another person. Well I, as well as many others who heard him, decided to listen to this gentleman and will not be coming back to this establishment until they re-train their staff, and change how they conduct their business. It is a shame because this used to be my favorite place to get samosa since...
