I have had multiple bad experiences at this location. Firstly the handy cap button does not work making it unaccessible for poeple in wheelchair such as myself. The staff stand around while other customers have to open the door.
The group of staff currently working there are unorganized and unprofessional. Let’s start with the fact that they are always speaking their native language behind the cash. I do believe it is important to bespeaking English while serving customers. If you have to say something, you can say it in English.
The inconsistency with my barista hot drinks is a serious issue. When you are paying $6.00 for a hot crafted drink you expect to get what you paid for. The lattes I order are either scolding hot and the milk is burnt or it is not even warm at all. When I asked for a new drink, the woman with the long fake nails (very unsanitary when you are working with food and do not wear gloves) poured the content of the drink back into a frothing pitcher and started to reheat the old milk and the espresso mixture. That is unprofessional and absolutely disgusting. That is not a latte, that is a mixture of old milk and espresso now being frothed and mixed together. I watched her do the whole thing and then pour the mixture back into my old dirty cup. I told her to make me a new one and she acted as if I am difficult.
Yesterday I went to the store and again the handy cap button does not working. I ordered a medium latte and it was flat and so hot it burnt my mouth. I waited 15 minutes for it to cool down and it still was not drinkable. I told them it was too hot and asked for another drink and told them please make a HOT REGULAR LATTE, not warm and not extra hot. Just a regular latte. The barista made one again using my old dirty cup with new materials and asked me to check the temperature. It was hardly warm. I told her at this point to just give me a refund as I was in the store now for 30-40 minutes already just trying to get a regular latte. The woman asked me for my receipt and I told her you never gave me one or ask me if I wanted one. She was argumentative and rude. She said “I always complain and I am always rude!” Actually I have only complained twice, even though I have had subpar drinks multiple times. I attend the store regularly with a friend. My friend also gets barista drinks that are not hot. She has to ask for extra hot just to get a hot latte.
You can imagine after receiving drinks that are not good quality so many time you will start to complain. Which I did twice for good reason. So the lady with the long fake nails feels the need to say in front of other customers “I am always rude and complain” which is a lie and very unprofessional and poor service. You really need to go over your food handlers guidelines and wear gloves if you are going to be wearing long fake nails in a food handling job. It’s insanity.
Then I asked to speak to a manager and she passed my number to a person who continued to text me. Why would you resolve issues via text. You call a customer when you are resolving issues, not text. How do I know who this person is when I do not have a name or hear a voice. Customer complains should be handled differently. I asked her multiple times to call me about it. Very disappointed and will definitely be...
Read moreWe tried twice in the same day and won’t be going again, unfortunately a waste of money and a disappointment. My partner picked us up a Honey Vanilla Tea Latte in the afternoon on his way home (these have been my favourite since I gave birth to our daughter and tried one a month ago for the first time at sunny-brook) every-time since then at other locations they’ve been delicious just like the first time! But what he brought home was awful and tasted nothing like it, but I shrugged it off. We went again on our trip to Best Buy and it wasn’t good yet again so I went back in to let them know it tasted nothing like it was supposed to. The girl said “there’s honey in it” and asked if I wanted more so I said okay and she gave me the bottle to add it myself. Ali tasted it after and tasted nothing like it. This night they also started the conversation by telling me they were closing early and then asking what I wanted. For almost 6 dollars per drink, added with tax this was 40+ in orders as we always get baked goods. Disheartening that we have to travel downtown to get a good tea latte when this is closest to us. We hope that the recipe is shared with employees more adequately so we get the same experience we do else where as should...
Read moreIt's Saturday morning on Sept. 24th/16. I'm getting my vehicle serviced across the street at VW Yorkdale. So I walk over to grab a coffee and muffin. Service was good and quick. The decor looked really nice and relaxing. The problem began when I sat down to enjoy an enjoyable coffee house experience. What I got was three girls behind the counter (maybe two, might be unfair to the one that who took my order) talking loudly about getting 'hammered' the night before and throwing around f bombs in front of the patronage. I get that there should be cameraderie amongst co workers. It makes the day go by quickly and you enjoy your job. I used to be a barista at Starbucks myself. I know how unnerving the morning rush can be. But, not at the expense of the customer experience. Cackling of laughter, gossip about the night before involving alcohol, puking and getting 'hammered' is not what customers want to hear. You might be thinking 'just mind your business' or 'go somewhere else'. Kind of difficult when they are speaking loudly and throwing f bombs around. And yes, I will be going elsewhere. Never thought I'd be the 'get off my lawn' and 'turn the music down' guy as I'm pretty liberal, but this experience has turned...
