I really loved the aesthetic of Seascape. It’s beautifully decorated, with a chill and relaxed vibe, a very cool atmosphere overall. My boyfriend and I went for their $10 all-day gaming, which was a good deal. The setup wasn’t super smooth at first, but we eventually got things working and had fun playing.
We ordered the Thursday steak sandwich special (listed at $13.99), added fries (which the menu said would be $3 with a sandwich), and a root beer. The sandwich was delicious, and the fries were great too. However, our root beer never came with our food, and my boyfriend had to get it himself from the fridge. That led to a weird misunderstanding with the bartender, who thought he was stealing. Luckily, that got sorted out, but I do think our server should’ve just brought the root beer, it felt like a breakdown in communication between staff.
The real issue was when it came time to pay. We were charged around $30, which didn’t seem right. After asking for clarification, we found out we were accidentally charged for two root beers instead of one. That got corrected, but I later realized we were also charged $6.50 for fries instead of the $3 listed on the menu when you order a sandwich. We brought that up too, and they gave us $3.50 back in cash, which I appreciated. However, because tax had already been charged on the higher amount, I still ended up overpaying by about $0.46.
It’s a small amount, but it left a bad taste, especially since it came on top of two mistakes and a lack of clear communication. I didn’t even get an itemized receipt unless I specifically asked for it. Honestly, I’m someone who finds it hard to speak up in these situations, and if it weren’t for my boyfriend advocating for us, I would’ve left feeling even more shortchanged.
Overall, there’s a lot to like here, the vibe, the games, the food. But I hope they tighten up the ordering and billing process so this kind of thing doesn’t happen again. For now, I’m not sure...
Read moreI'm revising my review based on further experience... In general I've found this to be a very friendly and welcoming environment. It's a gamer bar/cafe I think. There's boardgames and video games for 5$ an hour which is very reasonable. I don't think anyone is particularly watching the clock though. That kind of casual atmosphere. Often the upstairs hosts all kinds of interesting shows and you never know what kind of people you will see coming and going. For what I have gathered the casual atmosphere may lend itself to a bit of a wait at the bar from time to time, especially if it's busy. But I guess in that case you could probably just hang out and play some games or something. I waited 15 minutes one time which I felt was over the top and so I just went to the Alpine. But I gave this place a second shot recently and again had a pleasant time here. Maybe the advice I'd give is to at least acknowledge a waiting customer and mention that it might be a bit of a wait. Makes a world of difference for a very minor effort. Thanks to...
Read moreCame and asked if there was karaoke- waitress said no. I asked if I can get drinks upstairs she says yes.
I go upstairs and they are getting ready for karaoke... and the bar upstairs wasn't open. So I had to go back downstairs and wait to get a drink.
Later my roomie asks the same waitress if karaoke had started and she responded "I dunno. Maybe."
So karaoke had a sign up sheet.
But instead of going by the sheet they would let youtube randomly pick a song and they would go "uhh can anyone sing Rush?" The same 3 people sang over and over while the rest of us asked what the point if the sign up sheet was.
In the female bathroom out of 3 stalls - ONE had toilet paper. As I'm in there a guy walks in and says they don't have toilet paper in the male bathroom.
My roomie and I ended up leaving early to go to a better karaoke bar.
Won't be back and would...
