Subway – Martinway Plaza (Visit on Sunday, July 13 at 3:25 PM)
I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had at this location. I came in and ordered a 6-inch combo with chips and a fountain drink. After paying, I went to sit down and noticed all the tables and seats were greasy and dirty. I had to lay napkins down just to sit, which is unacceptable from a cleanliness standpoint.
The employee working at the time—a short female with an Indian background with black glasses—was extremely rude and unprofessional throughout the visit. She looked irritated the entire time and prepared my sandwich with noticeably less meat than usual. Her attitude made it clear she didn’t want to be there, and she made me and my family feel uncomfortable.
The real issue happened when I started drinking my fountain drink and realized it was completely watered down and tasted sour. I politely approached her and let her know. Instead of being helpful or apologetic, she yelled at me and said, “It’s not my problem, what do you want me to do about it?” I calmly explained that in the past, other employees allowed me to switch to a bottled drink when the machine was off or the drink wasn’t good. She flat-out refused and kept saying the manager wasn’t there.
When I suggested she fix the machine or check it, she snapped back, “You go do it.” I was shocked. I said, “I don’t work here—I don’t get paid to fix your machines.” Her behavior was not only rude but completely unprofessional. Instead of calmly saying there’s an extra charge or offering a reasonable solution, she made it into an unnecessary argument over a small issue.
Eventually, after going back and forth, she told me “yeah, just take it,” in an annoyed tone. I ended up leaving the store, but I looked up the price difference myself online. Just to be fair, I walked back and gave her 50 cents to cover the difference—even though I was never asked to pay it properly, just yelled at and made to feel like I was being a problem.
All of this could’ve been avoided with basic customer service. Had she just said, “I’m sorry the drink isn’t good, I can offer a bottled drink for 50 cents more,” I would’ve paid it gladly—no issue. But the way she spoke to me, told me to fix the machine myself, and acted like my concerns didn’t matter, was completely out of line.
If this is the kind of staff being hired, it’s a bad reflection on the entire Subway brand. I hope management seriously addresses this, because customers shouldn’t be treated like this—especially over something as simple as a...
Read moreI am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a very upsetting and unacceptable experience that occurred at the Subway location in Martinway Plaza (Martin Grove & The Westway) on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at approximately 3:00 PM.
My daughter and I visited this location, where she ordered a combo meal that included a sub, chips, and a fountain drink. After pouring her drink, she noticed immediately that it tasted disgusting and watered-down, clearly not up to any acceptable standard. She politely mentioned this to the female employee working at the time — instead of showing any concern or offering a solution, the worker became rude and disrespectful.
The employee told my daughter, "That’s not my responsibility," and even said she should clean the drink machine herself. When asked about an alternative, she said the manager wasn’t there and she didn’t have the authority to clean the machine or to provide a bottled drink instead. She refused to suggest any solution and told my daughter that it was “her problem.” My daughter was left dumbfounded and embarrassed, simply for pointing out an issue with the product she paid for.
Despite all this, my daughter even offered to pay the difference for a bottled drink, but the employee didn’t acknowledge it or assist her in any way. My daughter ended up placing the money on the counter and we left feeling shocked by the entire interaction.
To add to this poor experience:
The restaurant was dirty, with the food preparation area and general environment looking unclean. I saw mosquitoes flying over the meat and vegetables. The worker was without mask and hair net; and on top of that the washroom remain close at all times for the customers. It shows lack of uncaring customer service.
The sub was poorly made and tasted bad, with no care clearly put into it.
The employee had no interest in helping, and acted as though customers were a burden rather than someone keeping the business running.
I have to ask: If someone doesn’t want to help customers or uphold basic service standards, why are they working there at all? Her behavior was not only unprofessional but reflected terribly on the Subway brand.
I’m requesting that this situation be looked into seriously, and that appropriate action is taken to address the employee’s behavior and the poor condition of the store. This kind of experience is unacceptable, especially for paying customers who came in with respectful...
Read moreThe worst service i have ever experienced in my entire life. visited this place 28 of September 2024 on a Saturday aturday afternoon. After getting inside I kept calling loudly for a sandwich but nobody answered, Then after around three or four minutes later an Indian decent short girl showed up with no intention of serving me. Finally she made me a sandwich in the most lazy way possible, She appeared to be not happy at all working there . Anyway after finishing the sandwich I got some mayo in my hand and I wanted to wash that. She was inside so I had to call her again for another three to four minutes. I could hear her movements inside but she refused to Come out. When she finally came out I asked her to open the washroom but she refused saying that she just mopped the floor and asked me to come back in forty minutes. I hope not to go back in that location ever again and I hope the owner reads this message and removes her otherwise she will destroy this...
