We visited this bar after cycling for 2 hours in 34°C heat — five of us looking to cool down and enjoy a relaxing time. The patio was only about 30–35% full (photo attached), and since the only shaded spot was by the fence (where the umbrellas are fixed), we politely connected three small tables.

We ordered five beers and two bottles of water — $90 total — before even ordering food, which would’ve easily added another $200–$300. One of the beers was not cold, and my friend very politely asked if it could be replaced.

A few minutes later, a man named Koby (as the server told us) came over holding the same half-drunk beer and asked, “Which guy had an issue with this beer?” in an unnecessarily aggressive and condescending tone. Instead of replacing the beer — a $1 cost to the business — he kept pressing the issue and even criticized us for “taking so many tables,” though the patio was largely empty.

My friend offered to pay for the beer just to move on, but the interaction had already become uncomfortable and humiliating. On top of the rude attitude, bringing a previously consumed drink back to the table is simply unacceptable from a health and hygiene standpoint.

We decided to just pay the $90 and leave. Koby not only created a very unpleasant experience — he also lost the business a significant sale and five future customers. We won’t be...

Another terrible experience at Sunnyside Pavillion Cafe. The 1st time about a month ago met a friend for dinner. Both of us tried calling but no one answered the phone. I have allergies & wanted to check if I could eat there. Took a chance, the server asked the chef that wasn't helpful to see if i could have a burger or fish. Refused to check ingredients . I took a chance & ordered the fish & fries, which were overcooked & overpriced. Told server I won't be back for food ever again and would spread the word. Yesterday met a friend from work down there to have a pina colada (that's all she drinks)at the beach. Well, thank goodness we ordered the drinks before we got settled as the server told us they ran out of mix a couple of weeks ago. so Pointed out if theu answered the phone we could have checked before making the long trek down there just to have to turn around & walk back up to Queen St. This time never again shall I go there. Guess they think they can get away with this behaviour because they are the only ones on Sunnyside beach. I would rather jump in my car & go to The Beach area or Port Credit. Very poor customer service not to accommodate clients, even McDonald's & other fast food places will check for me. Guess this says something about Sunnyside...

Nice view, poor poor service. I ordered a drink and it was unbelievably watered down mojito. I told the server who questioned me beyond belief making me very uncomfortable. You should just believe your customers why do i have to prove it to you. I asked for a replacement drink and the server kind of mocked me by saying well you know this kind of drink will definitely taste watered down. Again invalidating my original complaint.the replacement drink came and tastes like there was no alcohol in it, i have noticed another reviewer say that as well. I refrained from saying anything to our server. Once the bill came the watered down drink where i had one Sip of was on the it i asked to confirm with the server and she just responded by saying yup it is. I had to press her to connect with her supervisor. Finally was taken off the bill after push back. The server then started being nicer as i had the machine for the bill in my hands i still tipped but i will never be coming back. Such a shame for such a prime location. DO NOT COME HERE there are better...

Average beach cafe but great location and views, could be amazing with improvements. Disappointed Some Staff in kitchen area don’t wear masks. Several people including the expo/ dish prep girl standing over prepared plates without masks handling food. The food was good - had the beef brisket sandwich and the fish and chips and liked both and would recommend if you visit this place. To the owner: The beach-facing patio can be so much better if the owner just invested some time and money to clean it up, get the spider webs off the table, get some music on the patio and get some more quality/sophisticated food. It would be a massive hit. Perhaps a glass fence vs metal railings to not disturb the views too. Also, the menu online and the menu in restaurant don’t match as the restaurant version is missing lots of options shown online.

Sunnyside Pavilion Café is one of my favorite summer spots. I’ve been there many times and always enjoy the good vibes, reasonable food, and fair prices. The atmosphere is vibrant. It is lovely to watch people play volleyball in front or seeing kayaks glide by with the beautiful lake scenery in the background. Only downside is that it’s a seasonal spot. It would be great if they could stay open year-round with some minor renovations. Also, they sometimes close for private events, and I’m not sure if they update that info on Google Maps or somewhere else. It would be so disappointing to walk there and find it closed. Still, a great place overall.
