Sunnyside Provisions — Restaurant in Toronto

This is truly a gem of a spot in Roncesvalles Village that opened earlier this year. It’s part-grocer, part-takeout counter and part-bottle shop. Sarah, her husband Jeff and their very good friend Laela are all co-owners. The trio has a combined 75 (!) years of experience working in hospitality and they bring that knowledge with them to Sunnyside Provisions. At Sunnyside Provisions, Sarah says fish ‘n’ chips are their signature item. “They’re inspired by the chippers from Dublin where Laela’s from,” she says. Sarah’s cousin is a fishmonger and supplies all their fish, including the haddock to make the fish ‘n’ chips that Peggy and I ate. They’ve also got a Meatball Sandwich and a roast beef sandwich on their menu. “Our recipes are from our past and from our homes, from our grandparents and parents,” Sarah says.

Sarah, Jeff and Laela are all Roncesvalles residents. “We wanted to do something in our neighbourhood, for our neighbourhood, for our hearts and for the people,” Sarah explains. She’s been blown away by the warm reception from nearby residents, especially the kids that come in for Sunnyside’s soft-serve ice cream. “There are some families where we actually knew the kids before we knew the parents,” Sarah recalls. “The parents are like ‘you’re a VIP here!’ We really just wanted to get to know everybody and make everyone feel...

This is one of a kind standalone Food Emporium, the owners/staff are absolutely spectacular, they are very friendly enjoy good conversation even if the place is crazy busy the staff always make you feel welcome when you enter the store and always willing to help out if you don’t know what you’re looking for…Prepared meals are to die for we used to get those boxed company brands to deliver meals to our home, but we now come to Sunnyside Provisions to get all of our prepared meals, you can’t beat home cooking and prices are very reasonable for meals that are cooked with love and passion. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Homemade dip like the spicy dill is to die for!!

Do you like fish and chips?, some of the best fish and chips I’ve had and their pulled pork sandwich and other takeaway items are made with the same care and passion…a wonderful selection of wine and beer can be purchased here. It’s a one stop shop and the one thing that I admire is that the owners/staff pay attention to the fine details of running a business like this, this is always a wonderful shopping experience. I ABSOLUTELY love this place and if you’re in the Roncesvalles Village area you need to give this place a try…You won’t be disappointed…Trust me on...
