UPDATE JULY 2025: One of the many things that I love about Swiss Chalet is that it is Canadian owned and operated. This chain of restaurants has been in operation since 1954. Other chicken and chips places have gone under in Ontario since then, e.g. Kenny Rogers Restaurant that was open in Mississauga for a while. Obviously, those other restaurants cannot compare to our Swiss Chalet. The staff members at this Rexdale Blvd. location are so excellent. Big recommendation from me!
UPDATE SEPT. 2024: It's hard to believe that I hadn't returned over the past two years to Swiss Chalet, a 70-year-old success story in the restaurant industry. I had meant to but time flies... Anyway, yesterday I returned with a friend to the Swiss Chalet on Rexdale Blvd. for a hearty lunch. It surprised me that there were so many empty tables. Before going there, I had looked online and was amazed at the huge variety of diverse foods available at Swiss Chalet other than the iconic and delicious quarter chicken, French Fries and roll meal. It wasn't easy for me to make a choice once we arrived at this Rexdale Blvd. location but I chose to try out the chicken quesadilla and fries meal. Excellent meal! So delicious, with generous portions of both (enough for a doggy bag for me, despite my not owning a dog...) My friend chose the tender roast beef meal on special. The only negative was that the beef gravy was too salty. The waitress was so nice, accommodating and helpful. We got our meals promptly, as also our bill at the end of the excellent meals. Customers started trickling in, as it should be. I had obviously made a mistake in not returning to the conveniently-located Swiss Chalet for so very long but won't make that mistake again. I will be back soon! Big...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Swiss Chalet recently, and the service provided by Jinain and Eulen was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I walked in, they were attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. My drink was never empty, my food arrived promptly, and they anticipated my needs before I even had to ask. It was the kind of performance that felt effortless, yet clearly built on skill, experience, and dedication—much like LeBron James’ legendary 2013 season.
In 2013, LeBron was at the peak of his powers, leading the Miami Heat to a 66-win season, capturing his fourth MVP award, and delivering one of the most efficient and dominant performances in NBA history. He had everything under control—whether it was scoring, passing, defending, or making clutch plays. That’s exactly how Jinain and Eulen handled their service: they excelled in every aspect, from greeting customers with a warm smile to ensuring that every request was met with speed and precision.
Like LeBron’s ability to elevate his teammates, Jinain and Eulen worked seamlessly together, creating an environment where customers felt valued and taken care of. Whether it was coordinating food orders, handling special requests, or making friendly conversation, their chemistry was undeniable—just like LeBron running the pick-and-roll with Dwyane Wade or setting up Ray Allen for that legendary corner three.
Dining out is always a better experience when the service feels like watching an all-time great in action. Jinain and Eulen didn’t just meet expectations—they exceeded them, turning an ordinary meal into a championship-level experience. Just like LeBron in 2013, their performance was elite, efficient, and unforgettable.
Would absolutely return for another...
Read moreThe service itself was friendly and accomodating. I was directed to my seat rather quickly.
However, the food itself was where I had to remove some 'points'. I ordered a Fish and Chips dinner along with some Chicken Wings. The fries were mostly cooked well but they lacked seasoning and salt. The fish also lacked both of these things. The plate came with some coleslaw but there was no tartar sauce with the food. This dish felt like the memories of what Fish and Chips was, and there are definitely better options for what I paid ($18.99 + tax). The Chalet Sauce as usual felt like some flavor was missing and had no salt.
I asked for the wings well done, and they were. The crunch from each wing was very audible. I couldn't have asked for any more. I had the Honey Buffalo and Mild flavors but I don't think the mild actually came, which is fine. Honey Buffalo was a bit too sweet for me. My receipt says I had Blue Cheese as well but it never came. 10 wings came up to $16.29 and when it comes to value for dollar I simply cannot recommend it.
Overall it feels like you're paying for the name of the restaurant serving you the food instead of the food itself. There are better options for both of what I ordered. Perhaps if you have issues with high blood pressure or sodium then go ahead and...
