Pretty decent place for traditional style dumplings. They are all boiled, with either soup or in a dressing (peanut or soy and vinegar based, both delicious). Tried all four, plus the beef shabu-shabu (a Japanese hot pot dish made by boiling meat and vegetables). The sauce they used in the shabu shabu beef is a sesame based one, typical in Japanese food ajd delicious. The soup based dumplings is both simple and delicious, not too deep or complex, but that's the point. The menu is focused and tight, not straying too far from what they do best.

The store is simple, with a couple of bar like seats, about 10, and washrooms downstairs. Get here early to beat the rush.

Used to love this place. Would order wontons all the time, fresh and frozen. Frozen batches have had a meat issue recently (from fall 2021 onward). The meat is full of some kind of fatty gristle (see photo) and there is just something off about the pork texture. Specifically, pork and mustard greens - previously my favourite. This filling issue was so off-putting, I stopped eating/ordering. My friends have noticed a difference too.

Most recently, after trying another batch of frozen, I had high hopes the pork filling quality was improved, but only 2/3 bags were of a better, satisfactory quality. I will post again if the meat texture improves. Hopefully the management will take this into...

EDIT Feb 17/19 - went back the next day (Feb 15) to try the Shanghai Wontons for dinner. Just spent the last 36 hours exorcising them from my body. Worst and most painful food poisoning I have ever experienced. I will NEVER eat here again Had the Shrimp, Pork & Chives dumplings. I was a little disappointed that there were no chunks of shrimp but the flavour made up for it. Perfectly balanced flavours. The dough is the perfect thinness and the filling is delicate but flavourful. Had mine with the peanut sauce - I actually ate the remaining sauce with a spoon, it was so good.
