The Wally Tap & Grill — Restaurant in Toronto

Tonight my friend and I were looking for a casual place to grab a whole bunch of wings, and found this place on blog TO for their wing night specials and decided to go there since it was close to home. When we walked in I looked around and told my friend that I could see this being my new casual weekday pub...The server came over pretty quick for drink orders. She then came back and took our orders in what seemed to be a super rush ( at this point the restaurant wasn't too busy, but she wasn't super keen on the service to begin) . By the time our food came I was done my soda but the server just dropped off our mountain of wings and walked away, not asking if we needed anything etc. I was well into my wings when she walked by for the fifth time only this time without her back completely turned towards us so I was able to grab her attention and ask for another soda (still no asking how the food was or anything) I asked for a coke, she walked away and said ok ill be back with gingerale. I kindly reminded her it was a coke I asked for and then she appeared with a gingerale... ( I get it - mistakes happen, it was busy, so I just laughed it off and told her it was no problem at all and she finally came back with the right drink)

We finished what we could of our wings (we ordered TOO MANY! but thats okay because they were delicious and we now have some leftovers...) About 20 minutes after we were done eating she came and dropped off 2 takeout containers silently. I even made a joke about how ambitious we were with our order and she still didnt crack a smile or say a word, just cleared our table and walked away. NOT . A . WORD !

After dropping off the containers we were expecting that she would come with our bill. . . nope. the attention here was still lacking. half an hour after getting our takeout containers we decided to just go get her. We went to the server station and she still didn't approach us until I asked her if i could pay the BILL. She came back with 2 bills ( again - small things, not a big deal)

I looked at it a bit shocked that I was charged for the second soda (the one she had wrong a couple of times, that I waited so long for...) because I guess I am used to literally EVERYWHERE doing free refills, and usually if they don't at least the server says something... anyway, only a couple bucks so i didn't really mind it just would have been nice to know...

I hand her the bills and ask her to pay them together when she said ( very . rudely.) " Oh,I thought you were doing the math?" to which I replied, no I was just wondering about the soda. She then stayed silent again and stood and watched / waited for me to add the totals up for her to punch into the machine... (sorry but I did ask for one bill, I was overly polite throughout the entire experience, even though she wasn't and she did not do anything for us... and she was still being rude. not just not friendly, but straight up rude in her tone)

Anyway, long story short. We enjoyed the pub, we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, but the service was the worst I have EVER experienced at any place, and I have been to some pretty dive-y bars. I still don't know if id go back in fear of having to deal with this dreadful woman again. Maybe we would have been treated better as middle aged men - but I honestly do not know what this woman...

I really wanted to leave a good review but I can’t. So I will leave some very pointed advice for the owner.

If the owner is a woman, who wears heavy black eye make up - then this place is a direct result of her rude, aggressive and bullish attitude.

Any mistake made by a waitress should NEVER come out of her pay. Any time a customer comes up to ask about the bill, NEVER swat their hands away. Do NOT touch the client - female or male. I have never been so uncomfortable in any restaurant until she came up to ‘sort’ the issue.

I live in the area, was looking for a nice neighborhood bar, to visit and maybe even apply at. When I sat down initially I was very hopeful and optimistic but by the end of the meal I decided I was never coming back.

To be clear, my waitress - not the one with heavy heavy black eye make up - was the ONLY positive part of our visit.

Soda at 2.99 should be free refills You can’t charge high prices and then serve subpar food. Get real cheese - you use the CHEAPEST cheese I have ever had.

Full warning to other customers, this place just isn’t worth it for the cost. If they could redirect themselves towards an actual friendly affordable local pub I’m sure they would be worth it, but with how it’s currently being managed - AVOID.

I would blame the manger for any and all bad things this place is experiencing. This place is not...

Wally's is a bit of a sports bar maybe divey. But I can honestly say the atmosphere is excellent. I'm speaking primarily of karaoke nights on Friday and Saturday. The servers are very good and there's always drink deals. The tall blonde server is so sweet and she reminds me of what a Nordic princess would look like. She's a great server!! The karaoke atmosphere is unparalleled. People are incredibly supportive and it's such a good time! I've done karaoke around the city but this one is really good!! It always has a big city but small town feel. The food looks really good but I haven't tried it yet. So if you want reasonably priced beer and fun come here! They also show all the sports games and special events like UFC. They have plenty of pub games too to keep you entertained! I recommend...
