As a Mexican living in Toronto for over 20 years, I’m really glad of the explosion of new Mexican spots that have been popping up since the past couple of years. So, I was really excited to try this place. I was really disappointed and do not recommend it. The servers were amazing and their service was very attentive, but…
The shrimp in the gobernador and baja shrimp tacos was tasty and well cooked. However, the tortilla—only one tortilla, mind you—was greasy and it broke right away, which is sign it was heated in a microwave.
The carne asada tacos were supposed to have grilled cactus on them. Mine had zero and the tortilla was, you guessed it, undercooked. The pineapple in the pastor tacos was so sweet, it tasted like that pineapple that comes from a can. The fish in the baja fish taco was quite crispy and tasty. Tortilla? Yup, microwaved.
The only tortillas that were put on a grill were in the quesabirrias, which were quite good.
The cocktails were great, but we asked for a shot of Clase Azul tequila, not because we’re fancy, but because it was very reasonably priced at $18. Looking back, that should’ve been the first red flag. The tequila was still pretty good though. I will give them a pass on this one because most people confuse that bottle for a Clase Azul bottle (Google Tequila Revolucion and Tequila Clase Azul so you know what I’m talking about), so I’m sure they were not trying to rip me off but was an honest mistake.
Oh, and do you want to know how to tell if a Mexican restaurant is good or at least more legit? The tacos always have TWO tortillas for support. Otherwise, the taco...
Read moreWe were a group of 10 people and came to watch the finals for the Copa America. This was our experience today: We paid $12 dollars just to get a seat. There was one server for more less 50 people. There was no A/C and the only fan on the place was not working. I ordered food and it took them around 40 minutes to bring it, plus they didn’t even pay attention to what I ordered. It took them another 20 minutes. I paid for three shrimp tacos $22 and they all came with ONE shrimp (literally). The order for drinks took them around 30 minutes and when we asked about our order they just run out of stock. Conclusion: worst logistic for such an important event at...
Read moreExceptional food, drinks, atmosphere, and service. We came here to celebrate a birthday and were a large group of 12 people. The food & drinks are the best mexican you can find outside of mexico, we had tacos, ceviche, guacamole, and cocktails - each better than the last (especially the ceviche). All cocktails are premium and delicious. The space is thoughfully designed, we were in the back heated patio and it’s lush & warm. Bogart and his team were incredibly hospitable by giving us the best seats in the house, no minimum spend, separate checks, and celebratory shots! Our night was fantastic and everyone is saying how lucky we were to have...
