Toby's Pub & Eatery — Restaurant in Toronto

I've been to Toby's 5 or so times, and have never had a negative experience up until a week ago.

I had the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant I've ever been to at Toby's.

I came in around 1pm and joined my friends at a table. There was one server working, which is fine, especially in a pandemic. The server was busy, but very helpful... helping us with the TVs and serving us well.

Around 2pm, I noticed our service had slowed a little, but it was still fine.

Around 3pm, on a trip to the washroom I noticed our server sitting at a table having some drinks, and didn't really think anything of it. In a small establishment with many regulars, that is definitely common and I have no issue with it.

Around 4pm, I ordered (with my friend) our third pitcher of the day and an order of wings. At about 4:40, I still hadn't received either the pitcher or wings, and our server was working behind the bar. My friend flagged down the second server, and asked about the wings/pitcher.

Approximately five minutes later, our original server came over to me, and told me to "never talk to the other server that way", and I told her that I was polite. I then asked about my order, and she told me that she had already brought it over. At this point I noticed her slurring her words... she was clearly drunk.

She told me "I brought your f*cking order 20 minutes ago"... I calmly stopped her and said "there's no issue here... but you didn't bring me my order, please bring me my order. She continued to swear a couple more times so I stopped her again and told her to please not tell me I'm wrong when she's slurring her words. She got even more upset. So I just asked for the bill.

She never came back to the table... never provided me with a bill... I had to flag down the second server and ask for the bill. If I wasn't with a group of 8 or so people... I probably wouldn't have paid. I was disgusted with the service and the way she treated me as a customer.

It was just an overall terrible and...

Cheap beer and chicken wings. Too bad about the service.

We've been here quite a few times now and usually the service is good enough. One of the waitresses, Sevda, was incredibly rude, enough to warrant this review.

We were sitting on the patio with our dog tied up outside the fence/gate. We were enjoying our meal and drinks, but as soon as Sevda started her shift, she came over and accused us of letting our dog, tied up outside the premises, take a poop on their property almost a month ago. She yelled at us in front of the entire restaurant, accusing us of intentionally letting him poop and purposely covering it up with a piece of tissue. She said she remembered us and saw a video of him doing it, and that she was barring us from being there.

Our waitress (the one who was serving us prior to Ice Queen's rowdy arrival) was totally sympathetic and apologetic, and confirmed that we were not kicked out or barred.

After talking with Sevda with a manager present, it turns out she didn't actually see the video. She saw dog poop there an HOUR after we left. Come on.

They've promised to try and show me the video if it exists. I've given them the date and time we were there last month to help them find it.

Now, if our dog pooed, and we didn't notice either during or after, I will apologize to them and delete this review. I seriously doubt it though- I am sure we would have seen it and picked it up right away, or at least we would have seen it when we left. Until I see the video, I think they owe me an apology. Seriously, there are tens of dogs walking by every hour. In any case her approach to us was totally brash and uncalled for.

The way Sevda handled the situation today was just totally out of line. Even the table next to us was totally turned off, and said they'd avoid coming back on Sevda's shift, lest they be randomly yelled at, and on grounds that are totally...

Highly disappointed for our first visit there, Seeing the great ratings it promoted online here.

Although the server was new and we tried to be patient and as understanding to her getting familiar with menu and how things work there, BUT she would bring the wrong drinks and billed us for extras we didn’t order or receive. When we tried to correct her when she would say the wrong drink she would confirm/repeat it- but we would get the drink she would say when writing it down (example:they had $5 tequila/fireball shots- she would only say fireball- we would ask/confirm- the tequila/fireball- but we just got fireball) our food for our table of 4 (nachos, fish and chips and a wrap) all came out 15 minutes after each other and one of us not being served at all, she claimed all orders where input at the same time, she wasn’t sure the delay in the kitchen- but not likely, I had fish and chips and was served within less than 10 min of placing the order- indicating my fish was from a previous order that required it to just be reheated in the deep fryer- , about15 min later nachos arrived, about 10 min later the waitress came to ask if we had everything we needed- we asked about my husbands wrap- and then after 20 min my husband inquired about his wrap again- she said would be out shortly- he then cancelled since we all had finished with our meals- I have been dealing with food poisoning since. The fish was dry and hard like it was cooked earlier and then reheated to serve.
