Hideous security. Went there for queer pride event last night, was forced to wait in a line for 1.5h despite I bought tickets a few weeks ago. Security was refusing to let my friend in, because he went to another bar down the street to use a washroom while we were waiting in the line. I asked security if it’s alright, he said that yeah, and he saw my friend and I waiting in line together, but when my friend came back, the only security that was dressed in a suit, not a uniform, started pushing my friend away and yelling at him that he needs to go back to the end of the line. I tried to explain the situation, and this individual started yelling at me too, threatening to not let us in, pushing us away, and saying that he will ruin our night by not letting us in, and that he is in charge. It took us 30 minutes trying to talk to this man, and him keep yelling until we got a chance to get in. When they were checking our pockets, security just took a lighter from my hands and threw it out without even asking me if it’s okay. I asked her why would she do that, she responded with “it’s the rules”, I was so annoyed at this moment and I responded with “why you did not ask me, and just took it from my hands and threw it out?”, to what she didn’t respond. I wonder if security treats people the same way when it’s a straight event, or it was just a pride special. Who raises these people? My night was completely ruined. I came there at 11, and only got inside at 1am, and I paid for my tickets in advance, only to find out that first floor of the venue is almost empty, they are just keeping people outside for no reason, and treat them like garbage. The behaviour and looks that security was giving to the people in line is really hard to read like anything other...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to come to Nest's Halloween event, which costed about $13 per ticket. After entering the club, we headed over to the bar where we ordered a mixed drink and shot each. The bartender poured our drinks and THEN decided to inform us that there was a $50 minimum to pay with a card (after we found out the drinks were non-refundable). We awkwardly stood there and waited for her to provide us with another option, but she didn't give us any. We reluctantly ordered a second round of what we had just gotten, after she had the audacity to suggest we pay the remaining $25 as a TIP for her. In shock, she takes my card and inserts it herself, and places an 15% "automatic gratuity" on our order. The total came to $80. I questioned it, of course, and she repeated that there was an auto-gratuity and the pineapple juice I ordered in my mixed drink costed extra (again, not informing us of this before we had ordered or paid). Upset, my friend and I walked away with our drinks and then were told by a man standing next to the bar that there was an ATM in the club - and if we had paid with cash, we wouldn't have had to hit the $50 minimum at all. Interesting how yet ANOTHER piece of information was left out of our reach. As if the situation couldn't get any worse, my friend went back to the bartender and confronted her about the situation and the bartender gave us back the gratuity fee, after admitting that she charges it because most people are "too drunk to notice it". This whole experience felt like a complete scam and was absolutely illegal. Our time at Nest ruined the rest of our Halloween. I am never coming back here, nor should anyone else that reads...
Read moreHorrible security experience. Terrible queue management. They had advertised a reggaeton event with ladies free entry before 11:30 pm on the guest list so a group of us signed up and got on the guest list, arrived 40 mins before the time and told the security that we have the before 11:30 pm ticket. They said it’s ok and we can stand in the queue and when we get there it will be fine. They horribly managed the queue letting people who were dressed in mini skirts in (letting about 40 people skip the queue and keeping the rest waiting until it was close to 11:30 when they let the rest of us in. So when we got there it was 11:34 pm. The ticket person said she can’t stamp us or let us in because their device doesn’t scan. When they literally just needed to see our ticket and stamp our wrist. They asked us to pay $20 in cash. In the end one of the security people let us in after keeping us waiting for 20 more minutes. Then the coat check queue was poorly managed and wasn’t moving for over 30 mins, and we got to the dance floor with our coats after waiting for another 30 mins. All of this, was after the security did not let us take my empty bottle of water in. I needed to take medication on my way back home so needed to fill my bottle for when i left the club. He didn’t let me take it in and started arguing with me that he could throw it out right now or not let me in etc. I travelled from another country and visited toronto and this was my last night. This club made sure i left with a horrible experience. Would never go back. The whole free entry was a lie and a way to get people to queue up and end up paying in cash. Is...
