Tong Ha Supreme BBQ棠下燒臘 — Restaurant in Toronto

This place is one of a small number of food stalls in an exclusive food court. So it's kind of a hole in the wall. But don't let the atmosphere and the price fool you. I have driven here specifically to buy food at this stall. It's really that good. I mean, there are other places with Chinese BBQ as good or almost as good but those others are not as well priced for their individual plates.

Salty and sweet, so the meat has to be eaten with plain rice or noodle to moderate the intensity. One serving of chopped BBQ duck on top of noodle in soup is less than $10 including tax. Most people go to the Chinese BBQ butcher to buy a pound or so of meat to take home as one of the dinner dishes, but I've never done that with this place so I can't tell you my experience with that here. We been buying bbq meats from Tong Ha for many years now and finally I’m ready to provide some comments about them. I’ve tried many many bbq places through the years some I’ve written about some not mentioned. Most times Tong Ha is pretty busy throughout the day. Their rice combos have a decent price point for what you get and how it tastes. (I’ve had rice that was a bit softer than standard, once) Of the meats I’ve had often is the crispy roast pork ribs (priced higher than just the roast pork), bbq duck and their Royal chicken. When getting their chicken make sure you get the ginger & green onion sauce, delicious when combined with the chicken. The other bbq meats I have not tried as much, but the 3 meats I buy often is excellent. The taste profile is bang on! I certainly would recommend their bbq meats...

First of all, I ordered the roasted duck and bbq pork rice, for the bbq pork they only gave me 4 pieces in total. After I ordered, they said they have prep for another order but someone gave up and asked me if I want it, I refused. Then they started giving me that attitude, at the same time take away most of the bbq pork that was first prep for my order and left only 4 pieces. I asked the lady why is there only 4 pieces which is way lesser portion than usual. She replied saying that's how it is.

I order the same item as a regular customer every few days, they have NEVER given that little of portion to me ever compare to this. This is not how you should do business!

I will never recommend this place to anyone anymore, and neither I will come back ANYMORE.
