Yesterday, my friend and I felt like having a snack and went into Yu Ki as I’ve been wanting to try it out. The place was pretty empty when we walked in at about 8:15pm. And they seemed to be more of a take out restaurant. There were 3 booths on the left side and general tables to the right. A younger male sat us in the middle booth. Took our order and left with no issues.
When we got our bill an older lady came in to give it to us. She stated “ I want to say this is not good etiquette” when I asked for clarification she said “it’s too little as it is a Friday night and not good etiquette. We are a business.” Was she talking about the amount we ordered? Because we paid for what we ate. I was totally appalled. Is there a limit written somewhere? I asked. She said no and she kept repeating it. I said are you busy? Is there a line up? Is it because we are sitting at a booth because then you should speak to your servers who sat us here. She said no it doesn’t matter.
If you want people to pay more then remove your A La Carte menu and only stick with all you can eat so everyone pays the same amount and your business will be satisfied. However, it is not my duty to buy more just because you don’t think it is right. My friend and I are both professionals. Not some school children that you are teaching manners. We do not know you. Please refrain from such biased comments in the future.
We had 2 miso soups, 1 Takyoki and a large sushi that satisfied us both. In fact I even asked for the sushi to be cut into smaller pieces in the beginning and was denied. If it was about money then I wouldn’t have asked for the restaurant to do that.
I would like to clearly state that I would Never send anyone to this location for the service of this lady and her lack of customer service skills. The miso soup was great but the food was fine for a snack and the washroom was very lacking in cleanliness. I am still shocked at this encounter and have never felt...
Read moreChecked online reviews and sounded like a great place. — Well first of all, the atmosphere was great. Was a bit tight, but it really had a Japanese vibe. They quickly greeted me and got me seated, gave me a menu then walked away with a smile. — Menu had a lot of pictures, on the Lunch side, which was really good visually but no description other than what comes with it (Miso and salad). I picked Chicken Teriyaki because I only had 40 minutes left from my lunch break. It came with Tempura, Rice, Salad, Cold brown noodles, and some sea weed (was a little bit and it was green). This one cost $13.99. — They quickly brought me tea, miso soup and a dipping sauce for Tempura. The mug was really nice, big, textured. Miso soup didn't have any tofu in it but tasted like it has some. — Waited about 25 minutes and got my Teriyaki Chicken box. Honestly, my first thought was "I should have just gotten rolls". The chicken smelled burned. I understand what grilled means but not to the point when it gets burned and I couldn't taste anything from it. No taste of teriyaki sauce and burned my tongue. Told the waited about the burned chicken, she called someone and all of them kept saying that's Grilled chicken, that's how it is. — Ate Tempura, 2 sliced quarter tomatoes, rice with soy sauce. — Paid $15.81 and not coming back. (no pictures, forgot my...
Read moreAs I was driving down Dufferin, I noticed this location & parked in the plaza for take-out at this location because I was in the mood for Japanese food. I walked in and asked them if they make Eel / Unaghi Don, they say yes so I order it and wait, it was 1:00 pm. While I'm waiting many drivers came in to pickup delivery orders. The lady tells me the amount to pay, I paid and before I left asked her for a flyer of their take-out menu, just so I know what they have for the next time I'm craving Japanese food so I can order other things on my next visit. When I look at the take-out menu later that day, I noticed they charged me the Dinner price and not the Lunch price for the Unaghi ! Ripped me off a few bucks, which was rude! I can understand alot of restaurants are struggling, but don't rip off your customers when they come to you, order & pickup in person! They're doing well because there were quite a few drivers picking up delivery orders while I waited, but this left me astonished that they would side-swipe me this way when there are other businesses who can't even have their doors open during Covid Lockdown! Be grateful you can still do business - but don't rip people off! To think I left a tip to boot! I will NEVER go back because they did this to me. BEWARE if you go here and check the price they charge you so they don't...
