Came her twice and never again. Came with my kids and husband first time and it was fine because we only ordered two bowls of pho to share with our toddlers.

Second time was extremely stressful and disappointing. Recommended our friends to come with us and their two kids. Waited for seats 20 mins. Got a table for 8. Friend asked waitress how much for plain noodles with soup. Waitress answered 3 separate times that it was $3. So friend ordered 4 for our kids. I ordered their large appetizer, husband ordered special pho, girlfriend ordered bun rieu, her husband ordered a rice.

Our husbands orders and the plain soup noodles came in 10 minutes. My girlfriend and I waited 30 minutes and our ordered didn’t come. Female boss kept looking at our table like we were holding it up and ordering so little food (she stated this at the end herself when we decided to complain).

We chased our missing ordered seeing that our husbands had finished their plates. It appeared that the order was not recorded. We put in the order again. After 5 minutes, they said they sold out of the appetizer I wanted. I ordered something else. They were sold out of that too. So I went with the bun rieu like my friend. The table that came in 10 minutes after us ordered the appetizer that I wanted and got it. Meaning if our order was correctly placed, we would’ve gotten the appetizer. Our bun rieus came after 10 minutes.

When we got the bill, it charged $10 for plain noddles with soup. The male boss came out as we complained. They kept asking which waitress took our order. We found the waitress and confirmed with her that she said $3 for a plain soup noodle. She went to the cashier and changed the soup noodles to $5 a bowl. Male boss was apologetic. Female boss came over and gave us attitude, as if it was our fault that the orders were not placed. Also added that she was wondering why we were dining for 1.5 hours when there was so little food on our table.

Food was average tasting but a bit pricer than other pho places. Customer service really needs work. We did not have a pleasant experience. Especially myself who couldn’t get the item on the menu that I wanted. Also, the poor management of running out of menu items at 5:30pm.

We would not go back and would not further recommend our friends to...

Hidden pho spot in the middle of the city, close to Yorkdale mall and the Orfus shopping district.

Visited recently with a group of 6, which they were able to accomodate pretty comfortably. This location is a literal "hole in the wall," since you would not notice it from the outside, unless you are familiar with the area. They do not have much signage at the front if their establishment so its fairly easy to miss. The outside windows and main doors definitely need an upgrade. Interior looks a little more updated and well maintained at the very least. Atmosphere 2 out of 5

I understand that this is a Vietnamese restaurant, however, it was very hard communicating with the servers who barely speak any English. It was a little frustrating, repeating ourselves multiple times while ordering, asking for requests and paying. All the servers / workers during our visit were also crowded together at the back of the restaurant by the kitchen. Being seated close to their proximity it felt a little uncomfortable having 6 or more people just standing around behind our table. Our experience got even worst when we started hearing popping sounds, and saw a worker zapping flies with an electric fly swatter behind their cashier counter. We are not sure if they had food or kitchen utensils behind that area, but we felt very disgusted by the fact that we witnessed that while we ate. Service: 1 out of 5.

In terms of their food, I gave a rating of 3 out of 5. Despite of our service experience, we really did enjoy our meals. The broth and meats are flavourful and well-seasoned, they were generous with their dish servings / portions, and plate presentation were appealing. I do commend them for not being stingy especially with their meats and ingredients. However, their peanut sauce for the fresh rolls tasted too watered down, and the rice paper was a little too dry. I also found their broth to be more on the oily / gelatinous spectrum, so when it started to cool down it was getting a...

MY FIRST AND LAST TIME THERE. If I could give zero stars I would. My mom’s friend recommended this place and so I decided to take my family of 5 to eat here. It was my first time and definitely my last time there. I ordered number 43 which is a rice plate and the rest of my family ordered pho meals. My family all got their dishes while I had to wait TWENTY MINUTES, yes 20 minutes for my plate. I understand it’s busy but waiting 20 minutes is a bit long when other tables that ordered after my family got their food before me. When I got my rice plate, there was a big piece of plastic wrap on my plate. I asked them what it was because this never happened to me before when I visited pho places (and I’ve been to a lot) and they said that they refrigerate the food and then microwave the food with plastic wrap on top. I would’ve been understanding but I had to wait twenty minutes for my plate and it was a big piece. The server said that it was because they’re busy but I’ve read other reviews and apparently they’re busy all the time so being busy now shouldn’t be an excuse. They offered to take my plate and give me a new one but then what? Would I have to wait another TWENTY MINUTES for my plate? Also for the prices where it’s pretty expensive for a pho bowl (regular size is $16 and a large is $20), they charge extra for beansprouts. My family tried asking for some more but they said they charge extra. This is the first time I’ve been to a pho restaurant where they charge for extra beansprouts while they’re prices are crazy. The quality of food was also mid but their portions are pretty big. BUT IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. I can recommend two pho places who have better food and service quality for cheaper prices. I talked to the manager/owner of the restaurant about the plastic wrap in my food and they didn’t apologize or say anything. FOOD AND SERVICE SUCKED. I’m not coming here or recommending this...

"In the heart of every Vietnamese kitchen, love and family recipes intertwine." Eager to try a few of these family recipes, I visited Pho Ahn Vu (3200 Dufferin St, North York, ON M6A 3B2). An unfussy Vietnamese eatery in the heart of Dufferin, the restaurant distinguishes itself with its cozy ambience and pretty cherry blossom decor. Onto what I ordered! The Phở Tái Nạm Bò Viên, a quintessential Vietnamese comfort food, featured thin slices of rare beef (tái) and well-done flank (nạm) cooked to perfection in the hot broth, alongside flavorful beef meatballs (bò viên). The Bún Gà Nướng was even better - grilled chicken (Gà Nướng) marinated in fragrant spices took center stage, adding a smoky and savory element to the dish. Served over a bed of vermicelli rice noodles (Bún), the dish was completed with crispy and flavorful fried spring rolls (Chả Giò) on the side. The combination of tender grilled chicken, refreshing herbs, crunchy vegetables, and the satisfying crunch of the spring rolls, all drizzled with a tangy and savory sauce, created a harmonious and satisfying culinary experience that embodied the essence of Vietnamese cuisine. With the end of the summer rapidly approaching and temperatures getting cooler, a bowl of comforting rice noodle soup is all you need. Highly recommend a visit to Pho Ahn Vu to satisfy this craving - with several vermicelli noodle curries, beef rice noodle soups, appetizers, and beverages, you are sure to have a delicious meal here! 3.5/5. This place is a mixed bag of highs and lows. The restaurant’s interior had two flowered trees and spacious seating, which looked welcoming. However, the conspicuous presence of supply boxes and a table used by staff for organizing utensils ruined the overall atmosphere and made the it look unprofessional. I started off with #5 Spring Rolls, which was perfectly fried to a golden brown and delivering a satisfying crunch. But it seemed overpriced at $4 per two-bite piece. The main dish, #15 Phở Dặc Biệt in large size, was generously portioned with meat, noodles, and herbs. While I would have preferred softer noodles, the broth’s taste was flawless, a perfect balance of ingredients. Service was also a mixed bag. The staff was efficient in taking orders and serving, but that is it. Afterwards, no one came by our table, and I needed to grab someone for any requests, including settling the bill at the cash register. This experience left me wondering if the staff really deserved the customary tip. In terms of value, while the food quality was high, the overall pricing seemed steep, especially considering the service level. This place is suitable for those prioritizing food quality over value or crafted atmosphere. If you are looking for a well-rounded dining experience with value, service, and ambiance, then you might want to explore other options.
