Zafoon Middle Eastern Restaurant - Toronto: A Taste of Authenticity

Zafoon Middle Eastern Restaurant in Toronto is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the rich flavors of traditional Middle Eastern cuisine. From the moment you step in, the welcoming ambiance and attentive service set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. But it’s the food that truly steals the show.

Shawaya: The shawaya at Zafoon is tender and perfectly seasoned, cooked to a juicy perfection with a blend of spices that’s warm yet not overwhelming. The chicken falls off the bone, giving you that true homestyle Middle Eastern feel. Each bite delivers on Zafoon’s commitment to authenticity.

Broasted Chicken: Zafoon’s broasted chicken is a highlight. It’s fried to a golden crispness on the outside, with the inside remaining moist and flavorful. This dish has just the right amount of spice, bringing a depth of flavor that’s irresistible. The portion sizes are generous, making it perfect for sharing (though you might not want to!).

Mandi: The mandi is a masterpiece of fragrant rice and slow-cooked meat. Zafoon’s blend of spices in the mandi rice hits the perfect balance, letting the tender, succulent meat shine as the star of the plate. The flavors are delicate yet pronounced, and the portion is perfect for a hearty, satisfying meal.

Beef: The beef dishes are where Zafoon shows its flair for flavor. Each bite is packed with a rich, smoky taste, and the beef is tender with a melt-in-the-mouth texture. You can tell the chef’s care in preparing this dish, with spices that linger in the best way.

Complimentary Dessert - Baklawa: To top it all off, Zafoon serves a complimentary piece of baklawa with every meal, and it’s a perfect ending. Flaky, sweet, and just the right amount of nutty, it’s a wonderful gesture and a final touch that shows Zafoon’s commitment to hospitality.

Hats off to the chef for crafting such authentic, flavorful dishes. Kudos to the entire team for their warmth and professionalism. Zafoon is more than just a meal; it’s an experience that brings you closer to Middle Eastern culinary traditions. Highly...

Dropped by Zafoon Middle Eastern Restaurant and had a pretty good time. We ordered the Shawaya Chicken with Rice (half) and the Spicy Infused Broasted Chicken. The Shawaya Chicken came with three types of rice: Spicy Red Rice, Kabuli Rice, and Dill Rice. I was really into the Spicy Red Rice, and my friend enjoyed the Kabuli Rice. Neither of us cared much for the Dill Rice, though. But hey, all the sauces they served were on point and really added to the meal.

They also gave us complimentary Plain Lamb Soup and Lentil Soup, which was a nice touch. Our server, Farhan, turned out to be the owner, and he was super friendly and made us feel right at home.

Overall, Zafoon offers tasty food, great sauces, and a welcoming vibe. Definitely worth checking out!

Update (7 months later): Returned recently and was pleasantly surprised! Both the Shawaya Chicken with Spicy Red Rice (half) and the Spicy Infused Broasted Chicken tasted even better than before. The broasted chicken is now served with pita bread on the side, which was a great addition. Ended the meal with a Kadak Chai that was perfectly made… strong, flavourful, and well-balanced. The service continues to be great and consistent.

Overall, Zafoon continues to offer tasty food, great sauces, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out (or...

I had the pleasure of dining at Zafoon in Downtown Toronto this evening, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish.

First and foremost, the interior design of the restaurant is absolutely stunning. The attention to detail in creating a warm, inviting atmosphere is evident the moment you step inside. It’s truly a feast for the eyes and sets the perfect mood for a memorable meal.

The service was equally exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Their professionalism and genuine hospitality elevated the entire dining experience.

And then, of course, the food. The quality was outstanding – each dish was expertly prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Every bite was a testament to the authentic Middle Eastern cuisine Zafoon is known for. It’s no wonder this restaurant has earned such a strong reputation.

Must Try items- Lamb shank, Chicken Shawaya, Broasted Chicken and Chicken Mandi❤️

Without a doubt, Zafoon has earned its spot on my list of top ten dining spots in the Greater Toronto Area. If you're in the mood for an exquisite meal paired with impeccable service and an ambiance that truly stands out, Zafoon is a must-visit. Highly...

I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant a few weeks ago as a tourist from the United States. During that time, I was asked to give a review, but my prior review did not give the restaurant the full praise it deserves. The dishes were exceptional; traditional middle eastern cuisine, but it has a distinct amount of flavoring and seasoning that truly stands out. Even weeks later, I still reminisce about how amazing it all tasted. However, Toronto is a city filled with diverse, delicious restaurants. So what sets this one apart in particular? For me, what sets Zafoon apart from its many contemporaries is the absolute dedication to fostering a welcoming atmosphere for those who walk inside its doors. During the two separate nights we dined, the staff was exceptionally friendly and did their best to help with all of our needs. Despite only being visitors for a short time, the staff made conversation and made an effort to make sure we had a fun time. The taste of food is a fleeting thing, but the way one makes you feel is a everlasting memory. If I have the opportunity to visit again, this would be my first stop. And for that, I would absolutely recommend both visitors and locals to Toronto to visit this wonderful restaurant.
