This culinary journey is an expensive disappointment. My partner and I wanted an adventure and we sure got one at Salt and Bright in St. Andrews by the sea. The waitress was lovely and the view is outstanding but that's where the pleasentary stops... The front staff didn't know what tables were available in a pretty much empty restaurant (they did say all the tables were reserved inside, but even after our meal, the restaurant was empty) Our water arrived in good time for an empty restaurant, my partner went to order his meal (the meatball pasta) and the waitress informed us they were out of meatballs. So, we decided to take a few minutes and re review the menu. When we ordered- We were not notified of the specials, when we asked the waitress, she giggled and said "oh I should have told you about those" We ordered the steak special, one with onions and one without. It comes with corn on the cob and a side. My partner ordered the mash potato to which they had run out of. I ordered the stuffed potato which is apparently popular but the chef has taken it off the menu. The newly opened restaurant hadn't updated their menus yet. 4.5. The restaurant states they have home cut fries (hopefully from potatoes) and baby potatoes but they ran out of mash? Interesting. Maybe their potatoes come in French fry form? Oh and you can order mashpotatos with gravy but they charge $2 if you get gravy with your fries. Our meals arrived, my partner who had ordered no onions, had onions and mushrooms- the waitress took the plate back to the kitchen, returned with the plate and 2 tiny mushrooms on the steak. 5.a- I took a bite of my corn on the cob, it was dripping wet and actually frozen. Hardly defrosted. 5.b.- the steak was 5oz fat and 5oz meat but baby potatoes were cooked, nuke warm but cooked 5.c- the frozen corn on the cobs (my partners was also frozen) were replaced with a bowl of carrots and French fries. By this point all we could do was laugh because my partners drink (a coke) arrived after our meals were finished and was flat. The waitress apologized and said the bar was backed up (again the restaurant was mostly empty). For an $90 meal (no alcohol or dessert) I have NEVER written such a terrible review. I hope the owners take these reviews seriously, because the few tables around us also had issues with ordering items no longer on the menu, wait staff not mentioning the father's day specials, not bringing sides, and the restaurant running out of foods and not telling customers until they ordered- saying "oh, I just hope no one orders it so i don't have to tell them we don't have it"and didn't offer any compensation. Plus, funny enough still charged the $2 extra for the gravy that didn't even come. I understand the restaurant is new but I truly hope they find their sea legs sooner than later. Date of...
Read moreThe food at this restaurant is unbelievable. In fact, I think the people that gave it bad reviews or eating somewhere else. I honestly cannot understand how someone could give this place a bad review.
I ate several items at this restaurant, nachos, crabcakes, macaroni and cheese with the bacon, hush puppies, house succotash, cotes de porc a l’orange and salt bight boil for two.
The food is amazing, hot or cold. I say this because I ate the pork a l’orange cold the next day and it was delicious.
The prices are amazing! The Salt Bight Boil for Two was not only delicious but an absolute deal! We ate for 2 to 3 hours, enjoying every moment of both the food and the breathtaking view, and when it got a bit chilly, the waitress was so gracious to help us move inside.
I have never met kind and courteous staff than I have at this restaurant. The owners have done an amazing job in selecting a group of people who put all their heart into their work probably because the owners put all their heart into their place.
You feel like you’re at home but there’s no way I could make good food like this, let alone at these prices.
I kept going back because it was just so lovely to be there and the food was so delicious.
I live in PEI and this restaurant could train restaurants in PEI regarding service, prices, atmosphere, courtesy, kindness, and most of all unbelievable food.
Hands down this restaurant is the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at .
I am not a world traveler, but I grew up in Montreal so I ate a lot in Montreal, and have eaten in Halifax, New York, Toronto, Florida, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, the Yukon, Washington state, Vermont, Maine, numerous places in NB and like I said, hands down, this is the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at.
The drinks are also absolutely delicious!
I keep sending people there, as I meet them in my travels, cause nobody should go to St Andrew’s NB, let alone the province of NB, without swinging by St Andrew’s by the Sea and dining in or out at the best restaurant in town, The Salt Bight Restaurant and Bar.
Thanks Folks, I can’t wait to see you again, next time with my family and/or friends.

Read moreMy partner and I just visited for Fathers Day. Now the story begins….
The front house staff did not know what tables were available and gave us the option of inside or patio. We first indicated outside then changed our minds only to then be told that there are no seats available inside 🙄
We took some time reviewing the menu. I tried ordering the Meatball and Pasta, then was informed they were out of meatballs. My better half and I then ordered the Father Day Special of a 10oz Steak, with mushrooms/onions, corn on the cob, and choice of side. Her steak arrived mostly as fat and grizzle, 10 oz steak easily became a 5 oz. Her corn on the cob was frozen, and small potatos in seasoned and bland, it did however come with no mushrooms as she requested. My steak was of similar fashion a lot of fat and grizzle, corn on the cob was frozen, and I had requested no onions just mushrooms. I ended up with fries instead of mash potatoes as apparently they could not make mash potatoes from the potatos they make they home fries with or the mini potatoes they serve. After my plate arrived back after requesting no onions and only mushrooms, lol it arrived with no onions or mushrooms. At this point lol I just substituted for their seasonal veggies which is apparently just carrots, again not seasoned. I ordered a coke close to the end of the meal which arrived after we had finished and as expected from everything else, was flat.
In all honesty we should have been comped something for this horrible experience. I would not recommend this place at...
