RAM GRILL AND COFFEE HOUSE — Restaurant in Town of Valleyview

Yesterday my husband and I wanted to experience the Indian food at this new restaurant in Valleyview. We put in a large order of a takeout meal consisting of Mango Chicken, lamb coconut, beef vindaloo, prawn masala, 2 beef and 2 vegetable samosas, garlic and butter naan breads, saffron rice, and 1 mango lassi which we had planned to share, but the owner generously gave us another mango drink for my husband—a mango milkshake—how did he know he loves milkshakes 😄! Both drinks were very delicious! The Mango Lassi is a creamy drink made with mango and yogurt and the milkshake is mango and ice cream. The lady who took our order (Jess) was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful in assisting us with our order as well as the owner (SK)—both very kind, and lovely to speak with describing the different dishes, visiting and sharing dreams for future and getting to know us as we waited. We did not have to wait long before our order was ready to go for us. We had an hour’s drive home before we could enjoy our meal but it was worth the wait! The food was very tasty and we enjoyed each and every dish! We are delighted to have plenty of leftovers for tonight too!! EDIT: I am changing my review. Last week I phoned. They didn’t answer. I tried calling again. No answer. They actually phoned me back and yelled at me for calling twice to order food when the website online says open. I ignored it & thought maybe was just bad day. So I try again about a week later & I get a text message back asking “who is this” and they don’t even answer me back when I said “I was just trying to order butter chicken” & “Is this even The Ram Grill!” I received no response at all. So I am guessing this place is closed?? I don’t know?? they’re just rude about people even having the audacity to phone. I loved this place last year when I was working in town. I am not interested in being treated badly though. Remove your number OFF the internet if this is how you are going to behave when somebody calls. Tried to eat good Indian food here twice, but were disappointed both times. The ambience is messy and unwelcoming, and the quality of food is mediocre at best. We ordered vegetable pakoras, and they were not cooked right. Soggy on the inside and not crisp outside. Furthermore, despite claims of Indian coffee being present here, the coffee is subpar. I would recommend the owners to watch a YouTube video on how to make Indian coffee, and not muddy water.

There's no good coffee, no good food, and despite photos of dosas on their profile - no dosas. I don't understand why this place receives high reviews, maybe from customers who haven't had the delight of great Indian food. I've dined in multiple times at many Indian restaurants, and I would warn prospective foodies to drive to Grande Prairie or Edmonton if you'd like real...
