If I could give zero stars, I would. My recent visit to this DQ location was disgusting. Me and my 10-year-old sister came here after a long day for ice cream and snacks, and instead we were subjected to the most humiliating, disrespectful customer service experience Iāve ever had.
This unsurprisingly involved the older gentleman who is still allowed to work front-of-house despite his long history of hostility. From the moment we walked in, this man made a deliberate point of ignoring us. We literally made direct eye contact, he 10000% saw us, and yet chose to tend to other minor tasks like slowly organizing utensils, pretending to check the screen, and dragging out time in the most passive-aggressive way. We literally saw other patrons being served promptly, while we stood there waiting for way too long.
When he finally decided to take our order, there was no greeting, no apology, or even acknowledgment. I only got through one item before I was interrupted and berated for not stating a size for an item I wasnāt even ordering. I clarified I wanted a chicken wrap, not chicken strips and still, no apology, no correction, not even a sign of basic decency. After paying, he walked away without asking if we wanted the receipt or even confirming the order.
When we got our food, rather than handing items over like any other restaurant, this man slammed them down on the counter, one after another so aggressively, all in front of a literal child. When I politely asked for a bag, since our fries and strips had been served without one, he practically threw it at us. So loudly and aggressively that other customers literally turned to look. The entire ordeal was humiliating, disgusting, and borderline abusive.
The worst part is probably that this situation isn't even a one-off. Iāve had the misfortune of being served by this same individual on a handful of other occasions and despite treating him with nothing but politeness and respect every time expecting it to be better, he consistently goes out of his way to be dismissive, cold, and demeaning. To the point where before even entering the place today, I was already feeling apprehensive and definitely wouldn't have gone there if it weren't for the fact my younger sister enjoys DQ ice cream. Whether itās a personal disdain for children, racial bias, or some other hatred for being in customer service, I don't know. But what I do know is that this kind of behaviour should not be tolerated. Not when paying customers are involved and especially not when children are subjected to it. A child should not leave an ice cream place feeling shaken and scared! I'm not sure how this can be tolerated at all when it's part of a pattern from the same employee who is still employed after over a year of this nonsense.
I will never be returning to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām writing to share a negative experience my daughter and her friends had at the Willoughby location today. The group visited to celebrate a friendās birthday and were using coupons to order meals. They adjusted their orders to stay within their allowances, but staff appeared impatient, asking them to "just order fast!" due to the line behind them.
Later, a different staff member called order number 7, and the kids didnāt respond since their order number was 27. The staff then approached them and asked, "This is your order, right?" Confused, the kids initially said yes but explained that the number being called wasnāt theirs. The staff then changed his statement, insisting he had been calling number 27 all along, left the food, and walked away without further clarification, which came across as rude and dismissive. When one of the childrenās mothers asked if there was an issue, he briefly replied "No" and left again without any further explanation.
This location is popular among students due to its proximity to schools. While I understand the staff might feel pressured during busy times, children should still be treated with patience and respect, regardless of whether they are accompanied by adults. Unfortunately, the experience left the children feeling uncomfortable and disappointed during what should have been a fun and memorable celebration.
I hope this feedback can help improve staff training and ensure all customers, including children, feel...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat location. Except for the fact that the service was terrible. Went in there one night with my wife and two kids. Ordered 2 blizzards for me and my wife and a cone and blizzard for my kids. Got the cone and blizzard immediately for my kids.. I waited 20 minutes sitting at my table with a number waiting for the other 2 blizzards. When I realized they had obviously forgot about my order I asked them when should I expect my other 2 blizzards. The lady didn't know anything about them even though she was the one that took the order. I kindly asked for a refund. The women looked puzzled. She walked to the back of the store and in clear sight you could see her telling the cook about what I asked for. He started laughing and shook his head. A moment later she directed another older gentleman to talk to me. He said nothing. He just took my receipt and gave me back my money for just the 2 blizzards. Not an apology. Nothing about whether or not he was the manager or anything you would think to expect when someone forgets about your order. It wasn't all bad as they did make the two blizzards that I origionally ordered and of course didn't charge me for them. Its one thing to forget someone's order but to just say nothing at all to your customer and give me my money back is ridiculous. Not even an apology. Literally NO DIALOGUE.
Its unfortunate as it is so close to...
