TL;DR: Fantastic experience! Would definitely return.
Reservation & Atmosphere: Booking through OpenTable was seamless, and we were seated promptly upon arrival for a Tuesday evening anniversary dinner. The ambiance struck a balance between modern and Polynesian influences, creating a cozy yet stylish vibe.
Service: Our server was attentive and helpful, offering drink suggestions right away. The service set the tone for an enjoyable meal.
Appetizer: We started with the Sesame & Black Pepper Crusted Goat Cheese ($23.75). It came with a papaya relish, beetroot waffle crisp, hot honey, pea shoots, and herb butter crostini. The dish was a hit, with generous portions and well-balanced flavors. While the sweetness from the papaya and honey was delightful, I personally would have liked more heat to balance it. If you’re a fan of bold flavors, this dish checks most of the boxes—sweet, salty, and tangy—but could use a bit more spice.
Entrée: For the main course, we both chose the Braised Pork Belly ($34.50). It featured Johnston’s pork, asado glaze, whipped potatoes, Korean wok-fried Napa cabbage, wild mushrooms, herb salad, and gochujang sauce. The pork was tender yet firm—cooked to perfection. Even the cabbage, which my partner typically avoids, was devoured. The only thing missing was a touch more heat from the gochujang sauce. Overall, it was more than a meal—it was an experience.
Menu Variety: While the pork belly was a standout, I noticed several chicken dishes on the menu. One dish that intrigued me was the Ohana Bowl ($25.50), with hoisin sesame-marinated chicken thighs, jasmine rice, wok-tossed veggies, teriyaki sauce, pineapple, and spicy aioli. Adding a pork option to this dish or an option to spice it up would have been great.
Another tempting choice was the Slow Roasted Lamb ($43), which included a cauliflower raisin purée, smoked mac & cheese fritter, pickled red onions, chimichurri sauce, and demi-glace. While the puree sounded interesting, the mac & cheese fritter wasn’t our preference.
Final Thoughts: Portion sizes were generous, and the quality of the food was top-notch. Haven Kitchen & Bar offers a creative menu with a variety of flavors that cater to different palates. If you enjoy exploring dishes with sweet, savory, and spicy notes, this spot is worth a visit.

This place has been recommended to me numerous times by one of my customer. But so far I didn’t have much luck with recommendations. Nevertheless, I finally decided to give it a try since I have never been here before.
This place is located on 64th avenue close to Willbrook Mall and its parking lot is located on its east side (don’t mistaken park at the pub parking lot next to it).
There is an enclosed patio on the outside, greeted by the hostess upon entering, bar to the left entrance, tables and booth seats on the other side with high ceiling, a flight of stairs lead to a second level of dining. The overall layout and vibe reminded me of Cactus Club and Joey’s.
Here were the food I ordered;
Haven Caesar (single shot). It was okay, pretty average. Aelo apertivo spritz. A light refreshing taste, nice little mock tail. Gyoza from another planet. A bit overkill with all the ingredients making the simple gyoza lost itself in space. Tempura coconut prawns. A crunchier version of the coconut prawns that Whitespot and Milestone serve. Missing the “tempura” theme, a light fluffy crisp, which can be easier achieved. Dill pickle fried chicken wings. A bit over cooked and barely notice any dill pickle taste. It was a bit bland without the house made ranch sauce. Broiled char siu salmon. The sauce was giving the taste buds that intriguing and flavourful sensation. It blended very well with everything, unfortunately the salmon was overcooked and missing the light char on the edges to be considered “char siu”. 14oz AAA charbroiled ribeye steak. It was a lot of steak, nicely done but it reminded me of a country style steak. I personally find the sauce were more like a pasta sauce then a steak sauce.
This is a nice little place if you are into the atmosphere and vibe in places like Cactus, Earles, and Joey, etc…
The service here was quite friendly and attentive. Nice to see all the staffs were active all the time.
As for the food, they were okay but fell a bit short on their descriptive theme (simple adjustment if desired to do so). Sometimes a simple adjustment can brighten the guiding light on the stairway...
Read morewent here on Saturday night for a birthday dinner, I wont be back. The chairs on the patio were very uncomfortable, highbacked and my back and butt still hurt on Monday morning. The service was not great, took forever, once food was delivered there was no space on the table to share three appies, no-one checked on us and we ordered the carpaccio, the goat cheese ball and the hot chicken with pickles, no crackers were brought for the cheese ball finally after a very long time we flagged a server down to ask if we were to eat a big cheese ball by itself and or if something was missing. We were finally brought some bread to eat a half eaten cheese ball with, The kicker was the dessert the server highly recommended the peanut butter jam cheesecake, it was awful, when she brought our bills back, again noone checked on us, we told her it was really gross, she said oh is it too sweet we said no its soggy and gross, no offer to take itoff teh bill, bring us something different and or even take it off the table. We paid our bills, and 18% tip was automatically added to the bill but was not on the bill. I was not impressed at all with this place. As another note we all paid our bills and then ended up being delayed as our birthday girl enjoyed her last glass of wine so ordered another cocktails x3, when we finished this about 45- 60 minutes later our peanut butter cake was still sitting on the table with a big ball of melted ice cream, awful!!! Our water was grey and tasted as if salt had been added to it. I woke up Sunday morning with a raw cheek and canker sores in my mouth. Not sure what the hype is here, but def will not be going back. The three of us girls bill was well over 300.00 combined not including tip and we had a table of 10, soooo all in all this server made a big tip as the bill would have been well over $1000.00 at minimum. Terrible. I don't mind paying for service but its nice to have some. It should also be added to the bill not at the payment machine where I...
