Star Lake Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Township of Langley

Sadly this will be our last time at star lake, 22 years I’ve been coming to you, for the most part it’s constant. We do not eat out a ton but we order about 3-4 times a year from you. We always order the same things. Combo C with substitutes, I drive forty minutes because I know star lake will delivery that certain flavour we crave and our food is fresh

Today I was surprised to see even though we asked for substitutes the price was cheaper than declared online. We’ll gladly pay the extra just cook our food correctly and make it fresh. However my prawns were over cooked n dried out, sweet and sour pork was dried out not fresh and the rice no seasoning added to it. So three out of four dishes were terrible.

I’m not sure what happened, perhaps new owners or new cook but I am so greatly disappointed. The service has always been just ok same waitress for 22 years who’s sometimes friendly but most of the time moody. I tipped her as usual but no thankyou from her no nothing.

My family ordered dinner to go on Friday night. We were quoted 15mins for pick up. We ordered 7:05pm, I got to the restaurant at 7:20pm. There was one table inside the entire place. Our order wasn’t ready until 7:35pm. I did not complain or say anything about the misquote for pick up. I took the order home 5mins away. We immediately served dinner and sat down to eat. Everything accept the beef and broccoli was cold. My kids who could careless about food quality, asked if we could heat up their meals. We were all really disappointed that after getting dinner out that we were doing microwave dinner. I called the restaurant to speak to a manager about the situation. The lady I spoke with told me to just put it in the microwave, and next time they would give us another 10% off our order. Since you receive 10% off pick ups by default, this means we would get 20%off. My wife and I understand this is a small “Ma and Pa” restaurant, we really felt let down. So we wanted to give another Chinese place a shot and we finally gave into star lake. I had really low expectations. Ordering was fine but when we went to pick up the restaurant it had a very musky weird smell inside. No big deal as we got take out. The one thing that totally made me feel sick was that the south Asian young lady came from the kitchen licking and sucking her fingers like she ate something. Then she answers the phone and hands me the bags of food to me. Yuck! I didn’t want to say anything not to be rude and I had a hungry family to feed. But that’s not sanitary at all.

The food was meh, but I’ll give the crispy ginger beef a thumbs up and kids enjoyed the sweet and sour pork. The pan fried noodles were hard and you could tell it wasn’t fresh.
