I'm not gonna talk about the Scotch here because this is not a scotch bar, it doesn't claim to be, and while I'm bothered by the lack of scotch it's not something I'm gonna take points off of just because I believe I'm a scotch aficionado. No let's get down to business (to defeat the huns.) and talk about the important parts of Jimy's Pub.
Atmosphere: Pretty great honestly. It has a sort of homey, comfy feel to it that doesn't turn you away without trying too hard to BE comfy and cozy. The air doesn't smell of smoke or the kitchen, and the lighting is bright enough to see but not bright enough to hurt your eyes.
Service: Great service really, terrific staff one and all, friendly and personable which you'd hope in the staff. I mean, that's business though, but they felt genuine to me so that's what was nice about it.
Food: Hooo boy the food was great. Great quality! The steak bites we had were cooked great, weren't rubbery or too chewy, it tasted like a good quality steak was used. The fried cauliflower appie was spicy enough to give it good flavour without it being over the top burn your mouth spicy. I had the black and blue burger with a caesar salad and found it all to be wonderfully tasty and cooked to perfection. My friends had the big kahuna burger, the fish and chips, the inside out dynamite salad, and the Big Bertha Super Challenge. There wasn't a single complaint from us other than the food was gone and we were sad about that.
So in summation, have a great meal at Jimy's Mac, with great atmosphere, good people, and good times. Oh yeah, it's also sports themed so if you like sport stuff everywhere then hey...
Read moreAbsolutely atrocious. When I come into a pub and want to order hot wings....to be told we will not mix the sauces. OK I suppose I can accept that especially when it's wing night. Simple blue cheese and hotsauce shouldn't be an issue but hey you got your rules. Now came in a Thursday the place is absolutely dead. First thing I'm told we will not mix sauces. Annoyed but know the gist. Order the jambalaya bowl...with extra prawns. Food shows up I don't see any prawns. So I dig through it and count 6 prawns....on a 22 dollar meal....plus 7 dollar for the prawns. I tell the waitress who handled all this like a champion btw. They sloppily cook up 3 prawns and and have someone else bring it out and dump it on my meal. Water still in the bowl. The wait staff here has always been good and accommodating as possible. The kitchen staff is rude petty and completely full of themselves. I worked in restaurants for years and I'm appalled at this treatment. If you are this pretentious you need to consider a new line of work. Sadly I live so close by this should be a simple late night snack for me and a buddy. But I leave wondering not only if but why I should ever go back. Sadly the jambalaya bowl the rice was clumpy and pretty sure it was minute rice and the sauce tasted like a spaghetti sauce with very little flavor. Side note the kitchen staff told me the jambalaya is only supposed to come with...
Read moreThe King Caesar Review is here! I am here to rate all the Caesar salads world wide … starting at my home in Vancouver. These rating will be solely based on the Caesar salad it’s self and no other food I ordered. I have been eating Caesar for the past 20 years and thought it’s about time I get serious about this obsession. I hope your as excited as I am.
Even just from looking at the outside I new this was my kind of place, with a Caesar salad definitely on the menu. We ordered a bunch of appetizers/ shared orders, Caesar being one of them… but not the best.
Dressing: creamy base vs. Oil based: creamy for sure, kinda similar to the Kraft brand taste….also a light coating applied. White colouring. 2/10 Garlic strength: 3/10 - not a strong punch or kick Leaves: mix of soft dark greens and crunch small lights Croutons: packages Cheese: wouldn’t be my first choice of cheese still undecided if that’s shredded mozza or just soft parm…
Overall this isn’t my favourite Caesar spot (also not printed on the menu?) however the atmosphere in this place is exactly everything I love about an old pub. Dark wooden panels as walls, carpet, multiple seating rooms with different types of lighting and seating, massive space, huge projector and the service was super quick and friendly. We’ll be...
