I worked at an A&W for over 8 years as a cook; I love the food and I know it's fresh and not rehydrated like some competitors (and I didn't have to wear a mask to prepare the onions like when I worked at competitor restaurants).
I know what goes into cooking at A&W and I know what a host can do to give the customer a great experience. So, when I asked for extra extra pickles on a Mozza burger, I knew I was asking for four pickles (every "extra pickles" equals 2 pickles.) I was told that they can't do that last week. This just tells me their staff doesn't have appropriate training. You should always be able to ask for whatever you want.
I had two drinks that night, and decided to walk to the restaurant instead of going through the drive through only to find I was charged for a bag for takeout! I made a socially/legally responsible choice and got charged for it because I had a large order and I walked in instead of driving through. This policy is wrong. Don't charge walk-ins for bags when you give drive through the bags for free. It's not the $0.25 that bothers me, it's the principle.
But. Shout-out to the lady yesterday morning who gave me a coffee when I forgot my wallet and desperately searched my car for money to pay (I paid for my coffee when I got two burgers that same evening).
And shout out to the young guy manning the till around 9 PM tonight who knows how to put extra extra pickles on a burger. Watch that one, he's smart, he knows what he's doing. And he didn't charge me for the takeout bag. He actually knows what he's doing to provide an exceptional customer experience.
That said, when I asked for extra seasoning salt on my patty I watched as FIVE extra 'contributions' to my one Mozza burger patty. If extra for pickles means two extra pickles, I hardly think that asking for extra seasoning should mean five extra squeezes of that salt dispenser. (I peeled back the cheese and scraped off the extra extra extra extra extra seasoning onto the street). I think the cook was annoyed I ordered a special burger an hour before closing so he made sure I got EXTRA seasoning. I think proper cook training is lacking, and that the hosts (mostly) know how to actually provide a good customer experience. (Except for that bag I was charged for as a walk-in takeout customer last week). I don't care if it's local policy, it's not right.
I gave this a 5/5 because of my overall good experiences, but I don't think other customers would be as forgiving as I am for the poor...
Read moreTo A&W,
I wanted to take a moment to share some positive feedback with you about your Beyond Meat Burger – it's absolutely amazing!
As a vegetarian, finding delicious and satisfying plant-based options can sometimes be a challenge. However, your Beyond Meat Burger has exceeded my expectations in every way. The flavor and texture are remarkably close to traditional beef burgers, making it an excellent choice for both vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.
I appreciate the effort you've put into creating a burger that not only caters to different dietary preferences but also delivers on taste and quality. It's evident that you have taken the time to perfect this offering, and it truly shows in every bite.
I'm thrilled to have a go-to option when I'm craving a classic burger experience without compromising my dietary choices. Your Beyond Meat Burger has become my favorite order whenever I visit A&W, and I can't thank you enough for providing such a fantastic plant-based option on your menu.
Your commitment to providing diverse and delicious choices is commendable, and it makes me feel valued as a customer. I will continue to recommend your Beyond Meat Burger to friends and family, and I look forward to more visits to indulge in this wonderful creation.

Read moreAbsolutely horrible…. I decided to grab some A&W this morning because I was in a bit of a rush, I ordered 2 bacon and eggers on the regular bun. When I received my sandwiches they were made on an English muffin, oh well I wasn’t worried about it. Then when I bit into them I realized there was no cheese on them, either of them. Since nobody was in line I decided to go back through. When I mentioned at the speaker that they were made on the wrong bun and they were both missing cheese the girl sounded confused. When I arrived at the window she says “I’m so sorry I’ll be right back” she doesn’t come back with 2 new proper sandwiches, she comes back with 2 cold cheese slices. Honestly I didn’t have it in me or have the time this morning to put up a fight, but now I’m sitting here in my work parking lot just fuming over these cold, terrible sandwiches.
This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve grabbed breakfast here, my other orders were right, however my hash brown has always been a little soggy and luke warm, and the cheese has never been melted on my sandwiches, just a cold boring slice, very sub-par quality here.
I’m new to Trail BC, *note to self do not eat at A&W here, McDonalds is literally across the street and every time I’ve grabbed food from there my...
