I mean …… the best thing I can say is the name fits and the thrifted decor is cool - the food, prices and service are a solid 1.75. We were lead here by a general lack of open lunch spots on a Saturday so I guess that’s a plus. If you look at my other reviews I’m not a negative Nancy so this one feels bad but the more I thought about my experience the more I felt the need to share honestly.

Service: overworked single person serving so not a whole lot of blame on her but 1. When my son asked for salt (which should be a clue there’s something amiss with your food to start with). She said “ugh…..I don’t know I’ll look in the back” and never did or follow up. 2. A cute old couple came in and when he engaged her with an Hola and “Como Estas?” She said “hola” and disinterestedly wiped down the table …. He engaged further and she was completely unfriendly and walked away ……. If you can’t find it in you to be friendly to a 7 year old boy or a sweet old couple you pbly shouldn’t be in this line of work.

Price: $19 for 3 tacos ….. not gourmet but the meat portion was large. $19 for burrito the size of your head - lots of food but price doesn’t match the style/size of the restaurant and especially doesn’t feel like a value given the taste or overall experience. $10 for chips and guacamole/salsa app (fair) $10 for cheesy tots (meh overpriced)

Food: Solidly in the 1 realm. Chips and salsa and guacamole - guacamole tasted like it was spooned out of a bucket of premade stuff - no flavor and white watery although there were chunks of fresh-ish tomatoes so maybe just really bad avocados and made a day earlier…. salsa was sweet but slightly remedied with the liter bottle of hot sauce provided on the table. Chips were ok but a little soft and sprinkled with a chipotle powder …. It was weird. I ordered carne asada tacos - meat reminds me of the cafeteria shaved meat that’s a combination of meats and a flour binder …. There was shredded cheddar cheese melted under the meat …. Weirdest combo of carne asada I’ve had in a taco ….. and just completely lacking in flavor. Husband ordered carne asada burrito (old Mexico something style). His biggest “beef” was the not carne - carne asada. Kids got loaded tots….. the tots tasted fried or rolled in old oil or something weird/off. …..

Overall I wouldn’t go again, I’d buy a bag of chips and a soda from a gas station and save my money for dinner elsewhere. I would’ve given it a 2 but feel the need to balance all of the gushing reviews with a recent honest one. Perhaps a “new” untrained cook?! If you read other negative reviews my impression is they pbly make their money on alcohol (hence the up charge for take out where you wouldn’t be ordering drinks). No shame in that model but maybe...

I do feel bad rating this place so low because the staff are lovely people, but the quality of the food has decreased significantly in the times we've visited. As an example of this, my sister always orders the quesadilla, and in the beginning they were crispy and stuffed full, but in subsequent visits they've slowly flattened and become limp and soggy with very little filling.

Yesterday was perhaps the worst visit we've had, where we went to eat there for Cinco de Mayo. I ordered the Cancun-style pork burrito, but I was surprised and disappointed to be given a beef burrito because they had neglected to tell me they'd run out of pork. The burrito itself was extremely disappointing- it was cold and only seemed to consist of beef and rice. The beef was dry, gamey, leathery, and unseasoned, and the rice was flavourless and mushy. I'm the kind of person who will eat nearly anything, and I could barely finish half of it so that's really saying something.

I really hope they're able to fix the quality of the food, and maybe have a serious talk with the cooks, because it was incredible at first but now it seems they're really cheaping out. (I'm giving it two stars instead of one solely for the wait staff because they're wonderful and compensated me for the bad burrito.) I genuinely wish this place the best of luck, because the owners and staff are young and we really need variety like this...

We recently moved to Trail and stopped in for lunch to take a break from unpacking. I had the Shambhala Lemonade which was delicious and so fun with a pop rocks rim! We shared these fiesta cheese sticks which were sooo good. And also tried the chicken, pork, and beef tacos with the 3/$16 tacos. The only sad thing was we wanted to try the soup and the fish tacos but both were sold out. But this is understandable, especially being a new-to-the-area restaurant. The interior decor was awesome, the music was great (lots of 90s), and the service was friendly. It was a little bit pricy, but the ingredients seemed fresh and that is worth it in my books. Not to mention the cost of food has skyrocketed everywhere you go these days. Definitely recommend and we will be back!

I was looking for a place to have lunch so I stopped at McDonald’s. While I parked I noticed this huge TACO sign across the street. Me being a fan of Tacos decided to leave Ronalds lot and went over to try it. I have stopped in many places that offer Mexican style food and have been quite disappointed in flavouring, portion size and quality. This place? None of the above! Everything about the dish I had was 100% great. I took my time letting my tastebuds enjoy this flavour fiesta and while they raved I soaked them down with a cool cascade of Pacifico suds. My server was fantastic as well. So when you go through trail and want a great lunch or dinner break this small little hideaway place will refuel, satisfy and impress you. Well done TACO DEBACLE.

I freaking love this spot. I am new to Trail and already have been here three times. Well priced, good food, great portions, excellent and great drinks. The only issue I have it's a bit overheated inside- for me it sets the Mexican vibe but can be overwhelming on a hot day. They do have a fan and I can always grab take out if its too much. Well worth it for the food. Edit: I keep having the Gordita but made with chicken, and it's amazing. I am not sure of the servers name but she was amazing and got it perfect for my first visit and I keep getting it. She also painstakingly looked through the taco t-shirts trying to find one for me (for my Dad) but sadly they did not have the 2X size my dad would have loved, I'll try again next time I'm there
