Kootenay Kabab... I have eaten in restaurants all across Canada from Victoria Canada to Great Falls - Windsor Newfoundland; literally hundreds of restaurants, some with big names you would recognize and others only the locals could relate too. Many have been good and memorable but I am stunned at the quality of the food I have just eaten here at Kootenay Kabob. If you are ever travelling through Trail BC, or even going near Trail BC in your journeys this is a must stop place. If you happen to live in Trail and have not been to this restaurant then don’t miss the opportunity to discover this rare culinary treasure that you have in your very own back yard. The amazing part is that not only is the food top notch, it is served by passionate people who care about their food and the customers who come through the door. My wife and I have very strict gluten free vegan diets and the staff made us food to accommodate all our needs mixing and switching various items from their menu to make it work for us. Five big stars and two thumbs way up for...

Someone commented something along the line of a slab of donair meat isn't a kabob. It is though, that's what a MEDITERRANEAN kabob is if you look it up. They are so good! I'm from Vancouver and have had many types of food, this place is one of the top. The flavours were spot on. The server explained to us how they recommend to eat the dishes, much appreciated. I didn't have the soup, but it was potato barley and 2 people who had it said they liked it enough to just come back for the soup. We also got pita crisps with tzatziki and hummus, obviously delicious. The pickle/olive platter though, oh my, it was outstanding of you like pickled things! The Persian spiced chai was really nice and came with a saffron rock sugar stick. Lastly, the owner (I think he was the owner?) was so kind! At the end of the meal I wanted to purchase some pickles and the pickled turnips. They don't sell the turnips but he gave me a nice big container to take home 😋 We will absolutely be back when we are back in Trail...

The Kootenay Kebab is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Trail! The food is a delight! Always flavourful, well presented, and so tasty. Whether you eat in or take out there is something for every diner. The staff is friendly, the newly renovated dining room is cozy, and with Michael's congenial welcome you're made to feel at home!! Added bonus!? When delivered or picked up the food always arrives hot and on time!

When I started to make lifestyle changes in order to improve my health I thought I would need to give up eating at Kootenay Kebab. Micheal, the owner, took time to understand what my food limits were and assure me that most everything on their menu would be absolutely ok for me to eat. Ten months and 105 pounds lost later Kootenay Kebab continues to be a delicious, healthy treat for myself and my family! Try it! It will exceed...

Magnificent! I visited Trail for a week and came to eat at Kootenay Kabab 3 times! Absolutely delicious food. Tasted so fresh and made with a lot of care. I loved that they had fresh and flavorful salads and warming soups to start the meal. I really enjoyed their platters of grilled veggies, chicken, lamb, and beef. The rice is outstanding. The dips are divine. And the deserts are not the be missed. Best of all is the wonderfully kind service from a father and son duo. I just felt so well taken care of and so welcome. A really welcoming space with a great soundtrack and even a small grocery store with specialities. This is an absolute highlight for anyone in the area. By the way, I’m a foodie from New York City with high standards and this place really is fantastic!

HIDDEN GEM ALERT! Who'd have known I'd get an authentic Persian meal in Trail, BC. It's my wife"s favorite cuisine, and I was briefly dating a Persian girl so we both have some exposure to it. But to put it nicely, it was one very pleasant and relaxed meal of good food and excellent service (sorry, I forgot the name of the red-head server but she did a great job). And for anyone who reads this review, take a look at the series of 4 pics I made called "Mix the Rice Right". It's not often I encounter a place that I'm willing happily to go the extra mile for.
