Chow Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Truro

Friday night and I had a craving for Chinese. Called ho ho,line was busy. Called king lam,line was busy. Finally gave up and called chow family since they are on my way out of town. Got the combo plate with beef and broccoli and chicken balls and a extra eggroll. Rice was good, nice flavour not to salty. Beef and broccoli was the star of the show,nice and tender with great flavour. A couple of the chicken balls were awesome,chicken was great.The other two had a little too much batter and they were a tad tough. That just leaves the egg rolls,normally I’m not a fan of all meat eggrolls,I prefer the cabbage ones but these had really good flavour,nice and crunchy and not to greasy. After the waitress laid our menus down on top of our clean forks.. Which I thought was absolutely disgusting.. For how many ppl touch a menu then you go and lay it on top of what I eat with.. Anyways..I ordered pop and she comes out with a straw that has no paper wrapping and just throws it on the table.. Again.. Gross. The rice had this fish flavor it which didn't taste well as it was a chicken fried rice.. The egg roll was way over done as were the chicken balls. The portion for the special has gone to the dogs..I remember when I couldn't even finish it. Now I consider ordering a second to fill me. So, Chances are I'm not going back until the buffet when I can get my own clean forks and straws that haven't been molested by the waitresss'...

Placed my order and was told to come in an hour. when I arrived the lobby was full of people who had also placed orders and were waiting frustrated. Come to find out they were over promising which caused a huge back log. It was another hour wait until my food did come. In that hour many people had come back due to order mix-ups. They kept telling it wouldn't be long, one actually word for word said, it will be about 10 minutes maybe 15 25 at the most I don't think it will take longer. It seemed to me the owners were micro managing and the staff didn't have a clue. The staff apologized but I did not get one ounce of sympathy from the owners.
