This place is unreal! I repeat, unreal!
I cannot express how much we love this place. Taste their Banh Mi and accept the fact that you have forgotten how other places taste like. It's that good. I've been enjoying Banh Mi Saigon for a while but once I tasted Thai Hang's Banh Mi, I know that I'd never go back . The stuffing is full, balance and juicy. Argubably the best banh mi that I've had either here, Viet Nam, or anywhere else in this world.
I've been a long fan of their old restaurant, which is a more traditional restaurant than this pick-up place and this new place did not disappoint me. We were grieving when we knew Thai Hang 2 was closing but were ecstatic to realize the new place is even better. It's rare enough for a place to be offer a best dish but Thai Hang 2 seems to trump them all and put all other Viet place into shame.
Things I've tried so far that I think they have the best one in town: Banh mi Bun rieu ( don't think it's offered in the new restaurant anymore) Chao vit (duck congee), or in general, everything duck related Bo 7 mon (I think it's bo 3 mon now, or beef in 3 styles) Cha gio (Spring roll) Bo la lot ( order one to cook at home and I was surprised how juicy it is. Heaven) Che bap (corn pudding? Idk) Sam bo luong Few more that I can't remember.
Overall, their cook has already won in life and just sharing his/her blessing with us. Pick anything from this restaurant and you won't be disappointed. Pick everything if you can. For those who gives low reviews, come fight me. I think you don't know what you're talking about. But if, and that a huge enormous gigantic giant with heavily bold underline IF, you're right, then I cannot be happier to know your recommendation, since whatever better than what Thai Hang 2 is offered, must be...

We decided to get a few buns and upon checking out, a big fish cake was given to us with the lady who seemed to be the manager/owner told my companion that this item was free. I then proceeded to ask her while pointing at the item and she nodded, smiled, and said 'free' two times. I asked again, making sure that this item was 'free.' When paying, we realized that we were overcharged, so we turned back and asked why we were charged nearly 50 dollars when we should have been charged under 40. She then immediately pointed at the fish cake [without us asking about the fish cake] and said '10 dollars.' When pointing out that she said it was free multiple times, she just said '10 dollars. tastes good,' and smiled leaving us astonished at how we were robbed in broad daylight. She would not give us a refund on the item either despite not even touching it and just smiled at us feigning innocence.
Obviously upset and not coming back, and why should I when there are three other good banh mi places less than a...
Read moreWhile the food tastes great, the new guy they hired is super slow and not following any sort of food safety protocols. He is slow not because he is still perfecting his skills, it’s because he walks super slowly (even though their space is already small enough), he’s turning up the volume on the radio station, and he’s chatting with his coworkers. I was standing right in front of him just waiting and watching him touch his phone with his gloved hands and putting it back in his back pocket jeans. He also touched another phone after touching his own phone. Then I asked him to kindly change into a new pair of gloves and he started mumbling to his coworkers before changing gloves and he is still super slow doing so. I don’t think he understood why I asked him to change because literally seconds after he touched the phone again! I’m pretty sure he did not take his food safety course. As part of a health care professional with strict infection control protocols, his behaviour is just unacceptable...
