Bombay Kitchen + Bar: A Service Nightmare with Subpar Food

As a discerning diner, I am deeply disappointed and appalled by the atrocious service and mediocre cuisine I experienced at Bombay Kitchen + Bar.

Service from Hell

Upon arrival, I was greeted with a curt and dismissive attitude by the hostess who seemed more interested in her phone than seating guests. After being ignored for nearly 10 minutes, I was finally led to a table that was sticky and covered in food crumbs.

Throughout the evening, our server was nowhere to be found. We had to repeatedly flag down other staff for attention, who were equally unresponsive. Our food and drinks arrived late and cold, and when we asked for refills, it took an eternity for them to materialize.

Culinary Catastrophe

The food was equally underwhelming. The samosas were greasy and undercooked, while the butter chicken was bland and watery. The rice was dry and clumpy, and the naan bread was tough and tasteless. It was clear that the chef had no passion or skill for Indian cuisine.

Unhygienic and Unsafe

To add insult to injury, the restrooms were filthy and unmaintained. The floors were littered with toilet paper, and there was no soap in the dispensers. It was a breeding ground for germs and a potential health hazard.

Avoid at All Costs

In conclusion, Bombay Kitchen + Bar is a disgrace to the culinary scene of Vancouver. Their service is abysmal, their food is inedible, and their hygiene is deplorable. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment, as you are sure to be left with a bitter taste in your mouth and a desire to never return.

Subject: Appreciation for Exceptional Service at Bombay Kitchen and Bar, Vancouver

I recently had the pleasure of dining at your esteemed establishment, the Bombay Kitchen and Bar in Vancouver, and I feel compelled to express my complete satisfaction with the experience.

The freshness and succulence of the food served was notable, enhancing the distinct and delightful flavors. It was evident that your chef has put considerable thought and effort into the crafting of each dish. I thoroughly relished every bite.

Moreover, the location was convenient and enjoyable. It presented an atmosphere so inviting that it greatly augmented the culinary delight of the evening. The cleanliness and organisation were second to none, which offered an environment that made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Specifically, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mr Raghav and Jashan. The excellent service provided by them was the cherry on top of the cake. Their professional approach and keen attention to detail truly enhanced the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, I am exceedingly impressed with the entire experience at Bombay Kitchen and Bar and wanted to personally thank you for maintaining such high standards. Thanks...

This place was just incredible. We ordered the chicken korma, butter chicken (pic), and onion bhaji (pic) with two platters of rice and a side of garlic naan, which was more than plenty to feed two adults and a kid—with some left over!

The bhaji came out first and I was already blown away by how well seasoned it was. The korma was spiced with a mix that I would sell my soul to learn, and the butter chicken was rich and creamy and decadent, so perfect with on the rice and on naan. Our server even came over to ask if the music playing was okay, and showed us how to eat the dishes with naan properly (you roll it into a cone and dip)!

I also don't know if this is sacrilege and I shouldn't be confessing it publicly, but mixing the korma and the butter chicken sauce together was absolutely wonderful. I'd love to come back soon and try some other new dishes (and the mango lassi). The service was amazing and we got a warm goodbye from the server and chefs, one of whom even poked his head out the door to wave. It ended up being $52 for ALL of the food we had. In my opinion, killer deal, bomb food, one of the best meals I've had in Vancouver....

My boyfriend picked up food from here since it was very close to our accommodation. We ordered online from their website and the process was very easy. I got the Butter Chicken Combo and my boyfriend got the Coconut Fish Curry combo. Wait time was pretty decent since we both got combos. When we got our food, it looked small in our takeout containers but the portion size was pretty good. Our food both came with garlic naan and a side of chick peas. I absolutely loved the Butter Chicken. It was very rich, flavorful, and creamy. The portion size was great. Also I have to mention the Tandoori Chicken that was apart of the meal. And that was the best surprise I could've asked for. It had the perfect char, slightly smoky taste that complemented the flavor the chicken was cooked with. That Tandoori Chicken was SPECTACULAR and I'll never forget that piece of chicken. If I had to complain, it's that I wish there was more rice haha. Also the sides were wonderful. The garlic naan was tasty and the chick peas tasted fresh. We loved our takeout and I'd bring the rest of my family here, they'd love it.

Food was great however be aware that you may not get what you order and when you inquire they will tell you it is a menu misprint and provide no solution. We ordered the Mix Grill platter for $38. Not an insignificant price for an entree. The menu claimed to come with the following: "A fine assortment of tender lamb chops, flavorful fish tikka, succulent prawns, and juicy tandoori chicken, paneer, all marinated in a rich blend of yogurt and aromatic spices, topped off with a perfectly grilled chicken tikka for a complete and authentic tandoor experience". When it arrived, it was missing the paneer. One of the main reasons we ordered as we wanted the variety of meat and vegetarian. We inquired and were told it was a menu misprint and it was a meat only platter. When we said this was one of the reasons why we ordered, we were told there's nothing they can do. We feel like it should've been addressed by them since we wanted what we ordered and they should've corrected the menu for future. The food is good but lack luster customer experience and average atmosphere may not bring us back.
