Bombay Kitchen + Bar: A Service Nightmare with Subpar Food
As a discerning diner, I am deeply disappointed and appalled by the atrocious service and mediocre cuisine I experienced at Bombay Kitchen + Bar.
Service from Hell
Upon arrival, I was greeted with a curt and dismissive attitude by the hostess who seemed more interested in her phone than seating guests. After being ignored for nearly 10 minutes, I was finally led to a table that was sticky and covered in food crumbs.
Throughout the evening, our server was nowhere to be found. We had to repeatedly flag down other staff for attention, who were equally unresponsive. Our food and drinks arrived late and cold, and when we asked for refills, it took an eternity for them to materialize.
Culinary Catastrophe
The food was equally underwhelming. The samosas were greasy and undercooked, while the butter chicken was bland and watery. The rice was dry and clumpy, and the naan bread was tough and tasteless. It was clear that the chef had no passion or skill for Indian cuisine.
Unhygienic and Unsafe
To add insult to injury, the restrooms were filthy and unmaintained. The floors were littered with toilet paper, and there was no soap in the dispensers. It was a breeding ground for germs and a potential health hazard.
Avoid at All Costs
In conclusion, Bombay Kitchen + Bar is a disgrace to the culinary scene of Vancouver. Their service is abysmal, their food is inedible, and their hygiene is deplorable. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment, as you are sure to be left with a bitter taste in your mouth and a desire to never return.

Read moreThis place was just incredible. We ordered the chicken korma, butter chicken (pic), and onion bhaji (pic) with two platters of rice and a side of garlic naan, which was more than plenty to feed two adults and a kid—with some left over!
The bhaji came out first and I was already blown away by how well seasoned it was. The korma was spiced with a mix that I would sell my soul to learn, and the butter chicken was rich and creamy and decadent, so perfect with on the rice and on naan. Our server even came over to ask if the music playing was okay, and showed us how to eat the dishes with naan properly (you roll it into a cone and dip)!
I also don't know if this is sacrilege and I shouldn't be confessing it publicly, but mixing the korma and the butter chicken sauce together was absolutely wonderful. I'd love to come back soon and try some other new dishes (and the mango lassi). The service was amazing and we got a warm goodbye from the server and chefs, one of whom even poked his head out the door to wave. It ended up being $52 for ALL of the food we had. In my opinion, killer deal, bomb food, one of the best meals I've had in Vancouver....
