EDIT: Went in for the first time in nearly 2 years, and was fairly disappointed - so there go the 2 stars. I think the attendant was still in training, but ordering process was... difficult. The biggest reason I visit the store, Champaign, was my very first pick and it was not in the box by the time I left the store and opened it up. At least a couple of the macarons were cracked, and it wasn't some small chip you get from slight bumps. A very minor thing to add; I thought the stamp system was 1 per 6 macarons? It says so on the card; got 1 stamp for 12 macarons instead. It's not the end of the world but this was done by 2 separate servers and both seemed either untrained or distracted. The 3 remaining stars are purely there for the flavour of the macarons themselves. I felt even that wasn't as good as it used to be, but this could entirely be my disappointment talking so I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: It's been a while since I visited but I've always enjoyed the consistent quality and service here over the years. Whenever I have visitors from overseas, I'd take them out to Granville for tour and stop by for macarons here. They sometimes mention this place as what they remember...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI LOVE macarons so we had to stop by and check this place out. There were so many unique flavors I wanted to try, but I had to settle for six since we were on vacation. If I lived in Vancouver, I would keep going back for more.
Sweet Blackberry Hazelnut Fuzzy Peach Lavender Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea)
Savoury Goat Cheese and Fig White Truffle and Pink Salt Bleu Cheese and Pear (Tried this for free!)
The sales associate was very nice! I loved all of the Sweet and Savoury flavors. It was my first time seeing and tasting anything like it. How creative! Those flavours sound strange, but they were delectable and worth trying. Itās a nice change to eating only sweet things and I would definitely get those again. The Sweet macarons werenāt overly sweet, which I liked a lot. Maybe Iām getting old, but my tolerance for sweets has gone down. These were perfect! The macarons also kept well to eat the next day so...

I have been to a lot of the macaron places in the lower mainland plus ordered and tried from a lot of the private home based pastry chefs. At the end of the day, I still bring myself back to Bonās for macarons. Are they the best in taste, quality and price? To be fair, they arenāt the best in each particular category but are one of the better ones in the overall categories and consistent.
Here were what I ordered this time around.
30pcs assorted box.
Overall, the day is always a bit sweeter when bringing home a box of Bonās macarons to enjoy. I always appreciate the friendly and more personal services especially when the owner is around, giving it that beautiful atmosphere which it does make most things sweeter. Plus most times I am there, they give a free sample on a new flavour. Give them a visit next time you are in Granville Island!...
