I visited and got a cookies n cream cookie and a latte. I found it was a tiny bit dry and thus messy to eat because crumbs would go everywhere whenever I took a bite, and the filling that I think was supposed to be vegan cream cheese had pretty much the same consistency as the cookie. That said, the cookie was not offputtingly dry and was actually still very tasty. The composition with the frosting and oreo on top was fun. The cookies are big enough that you could split one if you wanted, but they're completely manageable as a treat for one person, not like some of the mega hockey puck-esque cookies out there. The latte was okay. Nothing really good or bad to remark on. I didn't mind this, but I noticed it was on the less creamy side of things, which may be in part because I got almond milk. I enjoyed what I got but wouldn't say I was really impressed by it when I've had many (vegan) cookies that get the texture better, but if you like crazy/fun cookies, this is definitely worth a try, and I do plan on going back to try more since it's near my work. The venue here is split between Bonus and Freshii. They have separate ordering counters and one side of the space is clearly Bonus and one side is clearly Freshii in the aesthetic, but there's nothing to stop you from ordering something from Freshii and pairing it with a treat from Bonus and eating it in whichever...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of trying Turkish coffee for the first time, and I was absolutely blown away by its rich and complex flavor. Unlike regular coffee, which is typically brewed using a drip or espresso method, Turkish coffee is made by boiling finely ground coffee beans with water and sugar. The result is a thick and velvety beverage that is full of flavor and intensity.
One of the things that sets Turkish coffee apart is the meticulous attention to detail that goes into its preparation. The coffee beans are carefully selected and roasted to perfection, and the grind is incredibly fine, which allows for maximum extraction of flavor. The coffee is then brewed in a small pot called a cezve, which helps to create a creamy and frothy foam on top.
In addition to its delicious flavor, Turkish coffee is also renowned for its health benefits. It is said to be high in antioxidants and can help to improve digestion and circulation. It is also often enjoyed as a social ritual, with friends and family gathering together to savor its rich flavor and stimulating effects.
Overall, I would highly recommend trying Turkish coffee for anyone who loves rich and full-bodied coffee. It is truly a unique and delightful experience, and I can't wait to...
Read moreUpdated review in April 2024: Excellent customer service! Have now tried some of their baked goods and would recommend (the pistachio croissant is fantastic). My favourite cake is still the sprinkles cake, but the carrot cake is a worthy substitute! They no longer have a storefront but offer delivery and pickup from their kitchen in Vancouver, which is close to Main Street/Science World.
September 2022: Birthday cake of my dreams! Ordered a GF Medium Sprinkles Cake for the occasion, and adored it. It can serve around 11 people with thinner slices due to its height (8 layers). A couple people found the icing too sweet, but it was fine for me, although definitely on the sweeter side. The GF cake was moist and fun with the incorporation of the sprinkles! It looked aesthetically pleasing too. Pickup was easy but I will note that I was a bit worried if my cake would be ready. They never sent me an email that my order was ready for pickup, and they don't have a phone number listed on their website. There is one on Google (which the bakery later verified to me on Instagram), but when I had called the number earlier in the day, it continuously dropped. I really appreciate their plant-based approach and the GF option! I would certainly order...
