Ordered gamjatang over the phone and confirmed it was "pork bone" server was not fluent in English and spoke Korean over the phone and in person and accused me of confirming "ox bone" soup just because she heard the word "bone". I came into the restaurant pointed at the menu item to confirm, but she just added it instead of correcting it then threw a tantrum insisting that it was already made when I paid the bill demanding I pay for something I didn't order.
The cook came out to firmly tell us off for changing my mind and it was a one time fix. After I clarified exactly what I ordered 3x I said gamjatang PORK bone soup over the phone the cook called it a misunderstanding, zero apology, and the server had the nerve to continue her fit to insist she confirmed, in Korean ? Worst service ever! The "miscommunication" was from the staff not understanding English; she could have said 3 soups I would have corrected it then? Or after I added the pancake, also no confirmation? If there was any, not in English? I did say gamjatang repeatedly so I don't even understand why she still got it wrong. Maybe assumed I speak Korean just because I repeated what's on the menu? Never been to a place where they throw a fit and try to gaslight you over their own lack of language ability..like wow!! Used to come here for sushi, not coming back after being treated this way with zero accountability and zero shame. You can't take orders in English that's fine just don't continue to throw a fit and gaslight the customer who speaks it fluently.
To the cook: when you realize your staff messed up maybe apologize for immediately telling us off without even asking what actually happened while your staff continues to throw a fit? Try asking for clarity before believing the lies of your staff trying to cover up for their mistake but don't walk off after telling us off and letting her treat us that way without so much as an apology for misunderstanding and not asking customers for clarity.
Imagine repeating your order 3 times pointing at the menu when you arrive then having the server insist you pay for something you didn't order then proceed to throw a fit to gaslight you, tell the cook you changed your mind instead of telling the truth she made a mistake while speaking in Korean and customer spoke English, then have the cook to come tell you off and walk off without apologizing or even asking for clarity while the staff continues to insist she was right while the whole restaurant is watching the server throw a fit TWICE. The fact I said gamjatang and pork bone repeatedly over the phone and pointed at the menu seems to have been completely dismissed! Geez! Mistakes are a given, but taking accountability and offering an apology goes a long way.
Response: It would be upsetting for anyone to be pressed to pay for the mistake of the server who failed to understand "pork" and passed blame to the customer after clearly struggling with English, then have a second staff come up to us to accuse us of changing our minds before asking what actually happened and make it seem like you're doing us a favor for correcting her mistake. I understand you're upset for remaking it, but we never ordered ox soup in the first place, so being firm without asking was uncalled for. Then even after you called it a misunderstanding she kept arguing until you repeated yourself loudly and not once was there an apology for her mistakes, fits, or the accusation until now. Language barriers are totally OK, but blaming customers and throwing fits at them without acknowledging fault nor apologizing before leaving is not how to treat someone just trying to pick up the same order they called in for. Keep the money we are happy to pay for what we actually ordered from start to finish, and support diverse businesses just didn't asked to be served gaslighting and drama on top, and for the truth to be heard. If there was confirmation of # of items at any point or when I pointed at the menu or when adding the pancake, none occurred as claimed, or not in English anyway. Receipt...
Read moreService is horrible, we (7 people) order 7 items via Uber eat, asked for cutlery and they pack the food in 5 boxes with 3 set of chopsticks!? When I called and asked them why I order 7 items but only received 5 boxes? Is this missing 2? the lady yelled at me and said all the food are there, Check them, so I asked her how can I check them to know it’s 7 items not 5? Cause the sushi in the box were mix and all the sauces spill out, it looked a mess but I understand it was delivery problem, I just want to know how many pc of sushi per items so I can count/check to make sure I receive enough what I ordered. And she ask me: everything is there, you want to create trouble??? I told her: how many pc per 1 roll sushi so I can check? She said: I don’t know, everything was pack correctly, you want to bring trouble? I was shocked! I mean it’s very simple knowledge for those who make & eat sushi, to know 1 rolls of sushi they cut into how many pc, sometimes 16, 8 or 6… but she said she doesn’t know and assume that I try to bring her trouble when they didn’t do it right from the beginning!!! so ok, I ask her to ask the chef, then she spoke korean to someone and get back to me with the number. Some sushi they cut in 8pc, some 6pc but thanks to the number I can check that they gave me right amount. But the way she answer me was horrible, she didn’t explain to me anything but ask me to check? Check what? And call be trouble maker?? It’s so rude!!!
Anyway, the food taste is ok, too salty so no need of soy sauce, presentation like a mess (cause of delivery maybe) and the Japchae was the worst $20 for a small box of some noodle with beef & mushrooms, it’s taste super salty and the noodle was not cook, still very hard to chew.
And 7 items order was mix into 5 without asking us, we don’t have cutlery so we asked for it but only 3 was given and we have nothing to separate the food that was mixed so we have to go to dollar store to get the cutlery, plate so that we can finally eat our dinner.
Will definitely NOT buy anything from this place anymore, very...
Read moreThis is a korean running restaurant but sells both korean and Japanese food! They opened in our neighbourhood recently and we saw it was highly rated, so we decided to give it a try.
We know some people only like Japanese food and do not open for korean food. But some of course love both Japanese and korean food. We are the later.
We ordered their highly recommended tofu soup with seafood and rice combo, half and half fried chicken (original and sweet and spicy), house roll, Dami castle and salmon with sockeye Oshi sushi. Wow amazing! We were so happy that we tried them all. The quality was so good. The flavour and everything else were very balanced. It’s not like one dish was better than others.
We would love to go back and try other dishes next time. There is street parking and a few parking spots behind the restaurant.
Customer service was fine. Pricing is reasonable. We ordered takeout and we were surprised that they asked us to wait for 40 mins. It’s quite long for takeout. This is like the time we waited for Uber Eats but we literally went there to pick up the food after ordering on phone. It means their business is probably doing well and taking a lot of orders.
I hope this restaurant will continue running well. It’s always good that local businesses are doing...
