This place has great Malay Singaporean food and I feel people could easily this place along rupert. First thing is the service is good, has a family owned vibe, not sure if it actually is and I’d say it’s better to come here in a small group so you can try more items!
The roti canai was great, it was flakey and buttery, and balanced well with the satay sauce. Next up, I’d recommend getting the tofu and having the sauce on the side. Id imagine you’d have too much sauce if you didn’t get it on the side, and I found the tofu to be too oily, although it’s a bit expected because it’s deep fried. I feel they could’ve dabbed it with paper towel or something because it tasted good, but just too oily for my liking. Next up, the Hainan chicken was moist, toppings were good and this is a simple dish that’s well priced and I’d recommend everyone who comes here to try it if you haven’t already done so! The laksa was okay, I’ve had better in Vancouver. Felt the seafood they gave was just a lot of squid and I just felt the flavour could’ve been better. Lastly, the veggies were really good! I loved the veggie combination and they cooked everything perfectly, not to mention the shrimp flavour really adds to it - it was a great stir fry. However, it was a bit too oily once again.
Overall, the food here is good. Everything I tried wasn’t bad. I feel the food is fairly priced for what you get and dish sizes are just right. My only negative thing about this place was that some dishes were too oily for my liking, so if you’re on a low fat diet, this isn’t your place. It’s more of a comfort feel good food when having...
Read moreNo barrier in English as establishment replied. Server and other worker both heard when I asked for a Chili oil/sauce of some sort and they gave me attitude about it and explained to me how the food isn’t suppose to be spicy. I work in the restaurant industry and the attitude and body language was off. No communication issues just being rude. What’s odd is I just came back from travelling in Malaysia and I begged to differ that is was a communication issue . My Malaysian friends also told me they tried it and was very disappointed and it’s the general consensus . Food is meh and lacks any real flavour one would be use to. I tried this place 3 times in the 9 years I live a few blocks away. So think about how bad each experience I’ve had those 3 times that I’ve had to even try to give it another shot. Tried to give benefit of the doubt and went to pay still received a back handed comment. So no barrier in communication. I listened and I’m being honest with my review. Sincerely someone who’s a lifer in the restaurant industry you need to fix the overall attitude , perhaps create new recipes for success in both food and management. I’m going into much detail since your reply insinuates or assumed it was a communication issue. It most definitely wasn’t. Just read the reviews and take the constructive criticism. Much better establishments have shut down over...

I really want to give you a 5 star overall but I decided to round down. I will tell you why!
The food is really good! I asked for not too spicy and it was the right amount! Right amount of ingredients too. BUT as you can see in the photo, the portion of the food is medium at best. If I had to compare the container, it would be 2/3 full. I wouldn't mind if you added more noodles instead of ingredients to fill the container! Afterall, I don't think carbs cost that much. Plus, it was a $20 meal! Most meals in restaurants cost $14 to $18. They would make sure the meal is fulfilling. $20 and up is the expensive ball park and I expected the food to be #1 quantity, 2nd quality. I ate almost the whole container to feel full. I would usually save half for next meal if the portion was right.
Food tasted amazing. Service was fantastic. You're just lacking on the portion and price part. If it costed $18 maximum I would have let it go. I personally think this meal is worth $17. That's just my opinion. Despite the flaws, it still deserves a 4.5 rating because of how fresh and good the food tasted! A resturants' main selling point should be how good and fresh the food taste. If you got that right, you did...
