I came to this place because it’s near my house and the drinks seem pretty unique. They also have social media coupons that make the drinks a great deal at around $3.50 per drink. The vibe has a basic fast food vibe made for a high turnover, but it’s great for getting things on the go. We ordered the Pandan Latte (half sugar) and Matcha Latte (with soy milk, no sugar).

I was a big fan of the pandan latte, it pretty much tasted like a viet coffee latte. I’d recommend half sweet since it’s the perfect amount to cut the strength of the coffee yet you still get that kick you want - I feel full sweetness would’ve been too much. I will say that I didn’t really taste “pandan”, but the milk did have some sort of flavour that I couldn’t identify - almost mildly herby but not in a bad way. As for the Matcha latte, I felt it was really watered down. I didn’t expect it this would be a place for that type of drink, but they do have a matcha latte with coffee in it and I could see that being popular. We also got the classic Banh Mi, which could’ve used more pate, but the bread was perfectly crunchy and tasted really fresh.

Overall, would I come back to try more of their lattes, most definitely. However, I wouldn’t get an imported tea or banh mi because I know there’s better places with better price points. I will say I was impressed by their vegan options and would be curious to try one of those out. However back to coffee review, it’s called Hanoi Drip for a reason so I’d stick with what they’re known for. In terms of price, it’s a bit on the pricier side, but I’d recommend getting their coupon and using it because it goes from a slight above average price to a great deal. Try this place out if you’re a fan of strong coffee or like unique...

Update (Nov 3): I really wanted to support this place for their unique ube Viet coffee, which is genuinely delicious. However, I'm disappointed by the ice policy. The first time I visited, my drink was about 60% ice; on my second visit with a friend, we both received drinks with 80% ice, leaving us with barely any drink. I decided to give it another shot today (a month later) and specifically asked for less ice, hoping for more of the actual drink. To my surprise, I was told that 80% ice is their standard, ‘fixed’ amount.

As much as I enjoy the flavor, it’s hard to justify spending over $7 for what’s essentially a cup mostly filled with ice. I wish they offered some flexibility on ice levels – it would make for a much better experience for customers who genuinely want to savor the drink itself.

Oct 1:

Came to check out this shop last week after seeing it on Instagram and tried both the ube and egg coffee. Both were super tasty, though the ice felt a bit heavy.

Came back this week with a friend who was really excited to try. We both ordered the ube coconut coffee, and I asked for less ice, but they said I'd get less drink, so I said to just make it normal. Unfortunately, both our drinks were about 90% ice. The little bit of drink we got was delicious, but it was mostly ice. Really disappointing, especially for the price. 😞

I really want to support local Asian businesses, but this experience was a letdown. Such a bummer since my friend was really looking...

Long lineup , seemingly well staffed. This was a post-lunch rush. Not sure if staff were tired or really needed to spend a few minutes to clean their stations. Ordered an egg coffee. Waited around for about 10-15 min to get one as there didn't seem anyone available to handle drinks. For a coffee shop, that's quite slow service since we were the first drink order remaining in the queue. There were a few sandwich orders that were filled while we were waiting.

Very cool they have a machine ordering system. Bale has always been to me a very authentic Vietnamese place. Having the machine here makes it super easy to order. Sadly the machine likely ran out of prints. So I didn't have my order printed out or some sort of receipt to show my order.

The drink, tons of ice. Felt the cup was 90 percent ice. Very strong coffee with a bitter taste. I liked the taste. I heard people complaining about it being too bitter. I would suggest stirring the egg foam into the coffee to thicken it. A bit sad this wasn't mixed better for the customer, perhaps too much ice. With all the ice the egg mixture just sat on top of the iced coffee. Much better when mixed into drink. Food score would improve had they had less ice. I don't recall egg coffees having this much ice.

I'll definitely be back for the sandwiches, have been a fan for more than a decade. Haven't tried this location.

Parking underground was small and full. Had to find street parking in the...
