There is no excuse for serving such bad quality Vietnamese food in this area. I am amazed they are still operating. We ordered two dishes - the crab soup noodles and the beef shortribs, as suggested by the waiter. The crab soup was just sad. It was too sweet, lacking in flavour, and the fishcakes were flat and dense. There are several other places in the area serving this dish and every one of them does it much, much better. The beef shortribs were absolutely appalling. They were served on a hotplate, but it wasn't hot. They had obviously been sitting in a vat of marinade for quite some time and they arrived undercooked, pale and tasting of undercooked marinade and beef on the verge of going bad. If they had been seared for a minute, or if they had even bothered to heat the hotplate, they might have been edible, but they were tough, fatty, undercooked and basically inedible. There are so many top class Vietnamese restaurants along this stretch of Victoria, and I would recommend any of them above this place. It was by far the worst Vietnamese food I have ever eaten...

The crab cakes were quite different from what I thought they would be. They were more on the dry and chewy side, the taste was good but I was not sure if I tasted any crab. The minced meat wrapped in betel leaves were nice but nothing special. What surprised me was the sliced onions since I don’t eat raw onions. I reboiled the soup and poured over them, and they turned out just rightly cooked and gave a lot of flavor to the soup. The noodle had a p interesting texture as well, but although they tasted chewy, they would easily broke down into pieces after absorbing the soup and lost that preferable texture, so maybe I should eat faster.
🫸🏻Duck salad: didn’t know it would be shredded duck meat as I saw on the picture it was a whole duck leg. I personally didn’t quite enjoyed this dish because I thought it lacked some flavors, the fish sauce wasn’t strong enough so I really wanted some chili oil and seafood sauce on their...
Read moreI think I just found my new favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver!
This place has Northern style Vietnamese food, which is rare in Vancouver as most places are predominantly serving central or southern Vietnamese cuisine.
I ordered the crab meat noodle soup that everyone else was mentioning and recommending and I’m proud to say Google did not lead us wrong. It was so good! Broth was so flavourful and piping hot. I don’t even usually like the thicker noodles but loved this combo, generous size. Highly recommend you try it out.
My partner got the beef and flank pho and it was also delicious.
They have picked garlic and chili at the table alongside hot sauce and chilli oil. We almost ate the whole jar of picked garlic because it was so yummy and paired so well with our meals.
Kind owners, the tables were made of a really cool wood that felt like you were eating on a finished log. Really impressive banana leaf trees with so many shoots ready to unfurl. Great vibe and ambiance.
Can’t wait to come back and try more...
