After reading old reviews from the last few years about the service being bad, we thought that now things would have turned over a new leaf. So we decided to give this restaurant a try.
The reviews talking about great service are absolutely incorrect. From the moment I walked in, I got stared down and given dirty looks for no reason. I was polite and greeted at every opportunity and thanked the waitress. However, this was not reciprocated and I was blatantly ignored at every turn. Anytime I waved at the waitress to order more, she looked at the sushi chef and rolled her eyes as if I was a nuisance.
Throughout my dinner, she kept giving me dirty looks. It was also obvious that I was left for last every time. Why? I have no idea. Absolutely terrible service and made the atmosphere suffocating, which is not what you want for an evening dinner
In terms of the food the portions were small and overpriced for what you get. The taste was ok but not good enough to offset the terrible service.
I would highly not recommend this...
Read moreI walked into Kerrisdale Nakamura Sushi, on 41st Ave., with my 5 year old daughter. We wanted some takeout which they immediately said they don't do. I guess dinners at this place don't get to take their leftovers.
We walked out and then decided to go back in to eat as my little girl was super hungry. They then told me they didnt have any tables available even though there was an empty table without a reserved sign. The woman then takes a reserved sign off another table and puts it on the empty table.
You don't really think about racism being prevalent in such a diverse city as Vancouver. But it exists ... You can see this when you go to a Chinese restaurant and the white and other ethnic minorities get extra bad service or in this case a Japanese couple who didn't want to serve brown people.
It was awful trying to explain this to my little girl who is half Sri Lankan and half Caucasian (Hungarian/Austrian and...
Read moreI've been to Japan 3 times, all of which were massive foodie tours. For some reason, this place reminds me of some spots I've eaten at in Tokyo, Kyoto and Yokohama. Both the chef and server were cordial, professional, and had reasonable timing of service. My lunchtime sashimi don and tako sunomono were great. Now, it's no Sushi Garden in here, but like some posts on other sites say, it's quality over quantity. Another cool thing about my experience was that everyone inside was speaking Japanese, including all the other customers! I guess my visit here was extraordinary, because I can't really see how anyone on zomato or yelp can give this...
