Poor customer service â staffs need more training - I give them 2 stars because of their location and setting
On a Thursday afternoon, my friends and I decided to meet up after lunch for coffee. Since Honolulu cafĂ© in Kerrisdale was busy, we went to this cozy looking cafĂ© nearby. My first impression of this place was good from its ambience and dĂ©cor, and the server was kind enough to arrange the tables to seat all 6 of us without much wait. However, as the server started to take our order, I found that it took a bit of effort to communicate. Originally I wanted to share a pot of tea with a friend but decided not to after being told that an extra cup will cost half the price of a pot of tea. When our orders came, we noticed water spilled from every tea pot they put on the table and they also had trouble putting a slice of cake down without knocking it over. My other friend ordered the same pot of tea as me. Hers came but mine never did, so we asked and then found out they actually combined our orders into a bigger pot with double the tea ingredients. We were not happy that we were not informed or asked beforehand, and would still have to pay for the price of two pots, so we asked to talk to the manager/owner who later agreed to charge us for one pot only. Here came the worst part. As soon as the manager stepped away, the server came back to take an order for me since there was a minimum charge per person. I seriously didnât know what the server was thinking. You have a whole table of unsatisfied customers and you wanted to make their experience even worse just because of the restaurant policy?! Who would run business like that!? We were all choked about this and had to point out one of us ordered a drink AND a cake, which could satisfy their minimum charge policy. We expected to receive good customer service in high tea place like this, so this came to a shock. Overall their food and drinks were not that impressive. The coffee one of us had was sour. Another thing to note was that their the washroom door didn't lock properly. People could open the washroom door even after it was locked from the inside. Imagine how embarrassing it was to see or be seen using the washroom! Unless I hear any excellent feedbacks about this cafe, I do not...
Read moreLa Cuisson (French, the cooking) We are a regular here for the last year+. Sometimes 2-3 times a week. This is very cozy, enjoyable, and clean Café for lunch or an afternoon tea and dessert with friendly staff. Nice tables and comfortable chairs. Even the restroom is exceptional and very clean. We sure enjoy the peace and quiet here.
The owner, Jason once ran a coffee school in Richmond. My dad was one of his students.
Check lacuissoncafe.com for their menu. We like their Croissants, salmon or ham. Panini and quiche are delicious too. For the coffee, everyone's preferences may vary. If you have tasted their coffee, youâre likely not willing to return to 7-Eleven or Starbucks.
My mom loves Latte. I had their regular Americano, Colombian, Santos, Kenya, Mandheling, Antigua, some Ethiopia and Java.. etc. or I just told Jason(or his staff) to make whatever you like to surprise me. Never disappointed. No idea what Blue Mountain tastes like since it's expensive.
All the homemade desserts were made by the owner's wife, Tina. You can see her on Saturday. I like their cheesecake.
Parking: you may park on the street or underground parking at London Drugs that is free for the plaza customers including those visiting this café.
Btw, itâs a small business and they do have a minimum service charge. If you rate them a one-star solely due to the cafe policy rather than their food or atmosphere, that's not a genuine review. You could have easily walked away after the staff...
Read moreWe went to have a birthday brunch with my friend. Itâs such a hidden gem in the area. There are so many different kinds of coffee and drinks on the menu and we had a hard time to choose what to order. The lady that served us was so friendly and sincere, she recommended us to choose the Blue Mountain coffee and the Mocha Java. We also ordered the Panini with Turkey Ham. We could smell the toasted Panini from the kitchen before it got to our table. It was delicious!! I am not a coffee expert, but my friend had the Blue Mountain and she said itâs really good. Since itâs a birthday celebration and I didnât prepare a cake (my bad!!), so we ordered 2 mini cakes (also recommended by the server)- Chestnut tart and Passion fruit tart. Weâve finished our coffee, so we ordered a pot of Fruit Garden and Wild Berry as our dessert drinks. We loved the Fruit Garden, itâs perfect match with the cakes. I like the Wild Berry too, but a little sour for my friendâs taste. During our dessert time, we asked our lady server and see if she can take a photo of us, but she said she isnât a good photographer and introduced us to her colleague, whom can take good photos because heâs also a photographer. We were really impressed with the friendly services and ambience from the restaurant. We...
