Update: Gave this place another chance and it was worth it! Tried the flat white again and it was DELICIOUS. Caramel and nutty undertones with just the right amount of acidity, with silky microfoam—just as it should be. It tastes like the beans were high quality and uniformly roasted as either light or medium.
We also tried the salmon platter with Haloumi and LOVED the textures and different flavours involved. The Haloumi had some Umami that paired nicely with the spicy-sweetness of the hot honey. The yoghurt had a slightly biting tartness that went well wit the salmon and freshly-made, fluffy bagels. The pickled onions were balanced in sumac and dill, brightening the whole dish. My only wish is that the portion was larger for the price we paid (~$23 for a small platter). Delicious experience worth a third visit! Thank you to the owner for welcoming us and coming to say hi! Always nice to get a personal touch with the food we enjoy 💕
————————— Aug 2025 The service was friendly and welcoming. However, there’s no Wi-Fi or power outlets, making it less ideal for work or study. The ambiance could be warmer with some wooden touches, plants, and wall art or macrame. The flat white was overly bitter and lacked the smooth, velvety texture it should have. It seemed like the beans might be over-roasted, overpowering the flavor and aroma. Not something I’d...
Read moreMy mom was eager to try this place. Fusion Mexican and Arabic concept of baked goods and coffee shop. Clean and eclectic space. Front staff was super nice and patient. Additionally got to meet one of the owners and she was super kind. I had ordered the Salted Caramel Latte with Oat Milk. Not too sweet, just the right amount and temperature was perfect. My mom and grams ordered the regular latte. Next up we ordered a variety of savoury dine in items and pastries to go. Everything came in a timely matter. We ordered for savoury: Egg Sandwich (on a ka'ak bagel), Fattouch Salad (my favourite- not too sour from the pomegranate dressing and sumac), Salmon board (harissa hot honey labneh was delicious), and fluffy pita on the side with herb and garlic labneh. Fluffy pita was light and paired nicely with everything we ate. We got a variety of sweets to enjoy at home with some tea. The coconut cake is my absolute favourite, not too sweet and super moist.Twiced baked concha, halva corn flake cookie, Osmalieh (Crunchy layers of kataifi with a milky filling and finished with pistachio. Floral syrup comes on the side), and Mishmish Bar (Frangipane, apricots & a cinnamon cardamom streusel - my grams fave). Definitely will be back to try the other items...
Read moreMishmish is a Middle Eastern fusion-y cafe and bakery. A few of the baked goods/desserts have a Mexican influence. The design of the cafe is a little generic but appealing; it feels open and modern but inviting. The baristas were very friendly! They give you a number and bring food and drink to your table. What I got: Veggie bagel sandwich: The elongated bagel was soft and almost fluffy, more than the usual NY or Montreal style round bagels, but still had structure and tenderness. Fresh veggies and flavourful zaatar inside. Sfoof tres leches: Some of my favourite flavours and textures. The sfoof was delicious with a deep flavour. This dessert was served in a cup and was about equal parts whipped cream and cake, which made it more like eating a parfait or tiramisu than a typical tres leches cake. Karak milk tea: I wanted to try this because I love a spiced milk tea, but was a little concerned that with condensed milk it would be too sweet - that was not the case - it was perfectly balanced. The cardamom was pretty subtle. I could tell it added something to the tea but it was less intense than you'd usually get in something like a cardamom chai. This was a smooth,...
