Needed a quick lunch in the area and came across this restaurant. Ordered the shrimp salad roll for the picky kid, a large #10, and a small #7 (not shown but it looked pretty big and we felt maybe we should have got small instead) and a large #21. Picky eater enjoyed his salad roll. Husband really liked his #21 and was so glad he ordered it even though he didn’t normally eat crab paste. I enjoyed my #10. The broth was flavourful, sliced beef was tender. The pho felt a bit different from the ones I normally get elsewhere. Perhaps their style is from a different region of Vietnam? Either way it was tasty and I was happy to have came across this place. There is only 1 person working the front. She’s got this aunty/mom vibe. Very homey. Their menu items are a bit different as well. For example there is no lemongrass chicken/pork or spring roll. They have congee and Hainanese chicken instead. They’ve got some interesting menu items but I am not adventurous enough to try. Disclaimer: leaving a review is supposed to get me a free ice cream. But yah the food is pretty tasty and I would come back if I happen to be in the area at lunch time.

We came here for dinner as people highly rated this new Vietnamese restaurant. This restaurant used to be Tina’s cake house but now it is a Vietnamese restaurant serving hot food and coffee beverages. We ordered a house special and freshwater Snail and Steam Snail Sausage Vermicelli. I was scared to eat snails, so my husband ate the dish and said it was great and had a very unique flavour that we couldn’t eat it at other Vietnamese restaurants. I tried the house special. The soup base or broth tasted good and looked clean (without too much oil or fat). The restaurant also put a lot of beef in the dish. I liked the beef that was not too fatty 😊😋 I couldn’t finish the noodles so I brought the leftover home. I ate it the next day. It still tasted great!!! And the noodles did not become soaky and soft. The business owners came to the front and had a chat with us. They recommended us trying the fish cake and crab cake noodles next time. Yeah!! We will for sure go back and try other dishes. There is street parking, so don’t need to worry about parking problems.

Tried this new Vietnamese restaurant on Kingsway located close to Fraser Street. Only been open for about 2 months. Small, simple restaurant. One man staff, plus cook in the back. He was very helpful and friendly. The food was great. We ordered No. 6, chicken and beef pho. The chicken pieces were bigger than expected and the broth was different from other Vietnamese restaurants. Also ordered No. 24. Fresh water snail and steam snail sausage pho. This dish had a unique lemon grass broth flavor. I couldn't get enough. But bowl was large, packed with lots of noodles and snails. Couldn't finish it. Also ordered No. 25, Grilled beef in lolot leaf, beef ribs and shrimp cakes as well as No. 30, Vietnamese shaking beef on rice. Both dishes my wife n mom enjoyed. Beef packed with flavor and was very tender. Also had the Vietnamese Ice Coffee. Very strong and very good. We'll be back to try some of their other dishes. Give this spot a try if you like Vietnamese food! Oh, this place is cash only as well.

My husband and I went here for lunch today and it was a disappointment. He ordered the house special beef noodle soup and I ordered the shrimp and pork salad rolls because I wasn't as hungry.

He received his bowl of noodles pretty quickly and said it tasted fine, however I did not receive my salad rolls until he was done with his meal. For my salad rolls, there were two small overcooked pieces of shrimp in each roll and small pieces of shredded chicken instead.... (To be honest, I think they ran out of pork and had to prep chicken and didn't think I would notice the difference....) I would have brought this up with the server, however he was nowhere to be found the whole meal other than bringing our food over.

Maybe the restaurant is still getting their footing, but for my experience that day, a younger man was manning the front register, prepping food/meals in the back and also serving (Note we were the only table that afternoon while we were there). It seemed like his parents were just sitting at the front table next to the register chatting away and when we paid cash, there was not enough change in the register so the parents had to pull out money from their wallet to provide to the young man, who then provided this to me.

In the end, I ate one salad roll and felt bad about bringing up the issue about the rolls and we paid for our meal and left. I will not be back or recommend this...

If you're craving a truly satisfying bowl of Bún Riêu, look no further than Van 168 Coffee. The portion size is generous, and the flavors are absolutely on point. The fish cakes, soaking up the rich, savory broth, are a standout — every bite bursting with flavor as the fish cakes release their delicious juices. And the owner? A true gem! When I requested a sample of the snail sausage through DoorDash notes, not only did he fulfill my request, but his kindness really stood out.

That snail sausage was a revelation—perfectly exotic and packed with flavor. I'm already looking forward to returning to try the Bún Ốc, as that sausage alone left me craving more. And don't miss the coconut coffee, which was wonderfully refreshing. While I'm accustomed to the blended version, the iced rendition was a delightful twist.

Van 168 Café is a hidden treasure for anyone tired of the usual Phở Dặc Biệt or lemongrass chicken on rice. The attention to detail in the ingredients speaks volumes about how much they care for their customers. You can taste the love in every dish. If you're looking for a warm, heartwarming meal this winter, Van 168 is the place to be. I'll definitely be back!

Also, I read a review before placing my order on DoorDash about three flies in their soup, which made me a bit wary. So, I called and asked if there were flies in it. The owner laughed and assured me there weren't, and I could feel the sincerity in his voice. Well, I didn’t find any in mine, and honestly, even if there was a little fruit fly, I’d just call it extra flavor—haha! But to the lady who gave one star because of the flies... just a little note: fruit flies tend to be attracted to perfume, so maybe try using a bit less to cover up that "stinky stinky" scent. 😉
