This was honestly the worst service for a special event ever. I would NOT recommend anyone to reserve this bar for any special event.
Our group had booked a 8 people reservation to celebrate two of our friend's birthday. I personally reached out to Prophecy via email to secure this reservation 3 weeks in advance and they were happy to accommodate us. However, on the day of, we were seated at a low COFFEE TABLE with two small couches. I honestly could not believe that's the place they decided to seat 8 people. We were 8 small women and we were barely able to squeeze in with 4 of us squeezed into one couch with each of us crossing our legs. I honestly don't know how any they expected us to fit in there. What if we were 8 guys on a rugby team? How would we have possibly fit??
We politely requested to change seating but our waitress told us it was fully booked and there was no table available. So we asked for some extra chairs, stools, anything and we were also informed that there were no extra chairs or anything. I was flabbergasted. I begged for us to be on a waitlist of some kind for when a table opens up and our waitress says she'll try but no promises.
As the night went on, none of our utensils could fit on the tiny, low coffee table, let along the food and drinks we ordered. We had to play Tetris with our drinks and basically hold our plates while we eat crunched down to eat our food. It was unbelievable. For a place that charges ~$25 for ONE drinks, I honestly expected better service for an event reservation.
But oh that's not all. Even as the night went on and tables opened up, our waitress made no effort to move us to a table even though it's literally sitting there empty. When we asked, she always said there were reserved. At one point, a group of 4 were seated in to a giant table that could have seated all of us but the table was so large for that group and the music was so loud they had to squish together on side to hear each other, while we were SO uncomfortable over here. I honestly could not understand how they decide seating arrangement at this restaurant. It felt unreal. All of us were speechless.
But you think that's over? Haha just wait there's more. For this birthday event, one of my friends hand-baked a gorgeous birthday cake as her gift but our waitress brought it to the WRONG table. Thank god that other table was nearby and my friend recognized it was the cake SHE BAKED, physically walked over to the other table and stopped the waitress from giving our cake away. But the candle was already lit and the cake was almost blew out by a total STRANGER. I've NEVER. EVER seen that my entire life. How could they have messed up so badly????
Anyways, after the most horrible service i've received in my life and a very expensive bill. They not only did not apologize or make any gesture of goodwill, but had the AUDACITY to tell us gratuity is already automatically included and we need to pay and get out now since they have another party coming.
This dining experience was honestly the most aweful dining experience I've ever had. I usually never write reviews even if I received subpar service because I understand it's hard to be a small business but this is an experience I would not wish upon my worst enemy and I don't want anyone to have as disappointing of a birthday party as we did. Please do yourselves a favor and AVOID this restaurant at all cost. Vancouver has such a vibrant restaurant theme you have so many alternatives with MUCH better services. This was...
Read moreI recently visited a newly opened cocktail bar in Vancouver with great excitement, eager to explore the latest addition to the city's nightlife. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by unprofessional and unwelcoming management.
Upon arrival, despite seeing four people leave right in front of us, we were told no tables were available. When we requested to take a quick look inside to consider a future reservation, the answer was a blunt "No." This left me questioning their understanding of hospitality.
The communication throughout this interaction was perplexing. Initially, the manager asked how many people were in our party, only to then check availability. If the establishment was indeed at full capacity, why ask this question in the first place? After informing us that no tables or bar seats were available, we asked if we could just see the place briefly. The response was, "Okay, let me check." We waited, only to be told again that we couldn’t.
Having experienced exceptional hospitality in top venues across cities like LA, Miami, London, Monte Carlo, Paris, Cannes, Barcelona, Scottsdale, and Las Vegas, this encounter stood out as the worst in terms of communication and customer service.
Being newly opened, one would expect the bar to be eager to impress and attract new patrons. Instead, their approach was entirely dismissive, leaving us feeling unappreciated. Despite being polite, well-dressed, and having a history of special private invitations and VIP treatment at other prestigious venues, we were met with unwarranted rigidity.
I will not be returning, and I certainly cannot recommend this establishment to others. An establishment that fails to make its guests feel welcomed and appreciated, even from the outset, is entirely...
Read moreThe Prophecy bar did a great job accompanying my party of 7. (Note that this is a reservation done in advance—not a walk-in).
The staff were very prominent on answering any questions I had, and always felt like we were looked after. Morgan, was truly helpful. I was worried that there would be a time limit on the table I had booked for, but she reassured me that it wouldn’t be a problem to stay a bit longer than usual. Her attitude was great, and honestly made me feel very comfortable.
Although we had a great time, the only issue we had was that the booth that was provided was a bit tight. We were a group of 7, so it was a bit uncomfortable having to sit so tightly together. It felt a bit odd to see a bigger booth adjacent to us be occupied with only 2 guests. Additionally, the server forgot to bring additional plates (there were only 4 on the table at the time) and utensils to our table once the food was out.
That being said, the bar took great care of us, and also lit/cut our cake for us. My personal favourite drinks would be Kitsune and Northern Lights for those who have a more sensitive tongue to the taste of alcohol!
Overall, my experience was great and I would suggest this bar to hangout at. There are a lot of instagrammable spots, and you also get a birthday card from the bar themselves as a souvenir to...
