I went here on a weekend to learn more about the Haida culture and is a great place to come in and take a look at what the museum has to offer. Service: The receptionist was very helpful and kind. The women working there polity tell us the rules, direction, and handles our admission well Atmosphere: It is a quiet, calm experience in the museum, and there is air conditioning. That makes it great for anyone wanting to take in the information while enjoying the peace and quiet. Content: The artifacts found there is amazing, and I love the tall totem pole in the centre of the museum. Artworks and history information about the Haida artist Bill Reid I find plentiful. There were a lot of comments posted on the walls of the museum talking about Bill Reid, which I find interesting. Although the museum looks small, there is enough information to read that takes at least an hour. Feedback: I suggest to remove the information close by the TV, as the voice from the video made it harder for me to concentrate on reading what is being said near the center of the museum. Overall, a small museum with lots of information about the Haida artist. Anyone interested in reading more about Haida culture or the First Nations culture in general I would...
Read moreDo not order any products online from this place. I ordered a travel mug based on pictures from their website when I received it it wasn’t the mug I ordered. Completely different colours. When I reached out to the gallery they said it was their manufacturers fault because it was the photos they use from then to advertise. They charged me more for shipping than they did the mug itself and they said they would reimburse me for the mug and not the shipping and if I wanted to send it back then I could order something new off their site for 10% off. When I responded back with the lack of fairness for this they were short with me stating they would approve reimbursement for only the mug despite me not getting what I ordered and not offering to make or send what they advertised that I did order and stopped communication with me. And refunded only the mug. The mug they did send was poor quality and...
Read moreWe had a disappointing experience on a recent field trip to the Bill Reid Gallery. Despite our class being exceptionally well-behaved, the guide repeatedly raised her voice at the children, creating a tense and unpredictable environment.
Students were yelled at for helping, for sitting or standing as instructed, and even for asking clarifying questions. These outbursts made the space feel emotionally unsafe for young learners.
I shared this feedback privately with the gallery, hoping for accountability and reflection, but the response was dismissive and failed to acknowledge the seriousness of the issue.
We won’t be returning and do not recommend this program to other educators. I hope the gallery reconsiders how they approach...
