My SO and I stayed here at the end of July for 10 nights while visiting the city and I can wholeheartedly say that our experience was nothing short of fantastic from start to finish. All of the staff at the front desk was extremely helpful, courteous, and more than accommodating to our needs. The rooms themselves, while a little on the smaller side, were beautiful and had enough amenities to tie us over and really feel like we were at home. The location itself is also great - a short walk to many of the popular attractions in Vancouver, including Gastown, Stanley Park, Canada Place, BC Place, and Rogers Arena. The Pacific Centre is also literally next door, in case you wanted to do some shopping.
The one thing I want to drive home though is that the hotel was literally spotless - there was not a speck of dust, not a piece of trash, not a smudge on a mirror or on a piece of glass anywhere in the hotel, both in the hallways as well as the room. I'm certain that the hotel would pass a surprise white glove test at a moment's notice.
I honestly do not know how the hotel is only rated 3-star; we have stayed at several 4-star and 5-star hotels in many different cities, and I can wholeheartedly say that the St. Regis rivals even those such as the Fairmont and the Hilton in terms of customer service and amenities provided.
The only gripes I can think of are the expensive parking, at almost $40 per day in a weird-to-access spot, in addition to the breakfast options; although everything we had was absolutely delicious, we both found that the options provided became stale quickly after the 4th or 5th day.
One thing I feel should be mentioned is that the hotel itself is a short walk away from the infamous DTES to the point where you may accidentally stumble into it if you don't exactly know where you're going. That said, even walking around the area very late at night, there was never a point where either of us felt particularly in danger.
In short, I would not hesitate to stay at the St. Regis again if I were to return to Vancouver, and would strongly recommend it to anybody looking for a hotel...
Read moreVery ageist/sexist experience upon my second stay here. If you’re under 30, skip the stay here and book a Fairmont instead. I was excited to bring my friends for a stay here after my initial experience staying in the junior suite with my boyfriend. Upon arrival with my two girlfriends, the concierge stared at us as if we didn’t belong and didn’t greet us. I asked to check in, gave my name, and was about to spell out my last name before I was cut-off and rudely told “Amy WHAT? Smith? Jones? I need a last name”. We were taken aback by his mocking but I gave my last name. He misspelled my last name after I spelled it out for him, then proceeded to get angry at me for his misspelling and demanded “You need to start with V as in Victor. You made me think it was a B”. We weren’t rude to him at all, and it upset us as young women to be treated this way for no apparent reason except for our youth and gender. This concierge was one I had not seen before (older, tall Caucasian man) and his attitude continued until I gave my card and paid.
We left the hotel to shop and came back several hours later only to be held up at the door by a young doorman, who blocked us from entering and asked “Can I help you?”. We weren’t dressed poorly, nor did we look disheveled, and we each had shopping bags, we clearly weren’t “poor”- it was apparent that our age didn’t fit their idea of a customer. I told him we were guests and he immediately switched up his demeanor. During check-out, we watched as a man we befriended in the elevator was bid farewell and told to have a nice day. We checked out immediately after and received no acknowledgment, farewell, or even “have a nice day”.
We paid $750 for our one night and were treated like we weren’t welcome. I’ve stayed at “luxury” hotels and resorts across the world and have NEVER been made to feel this way before. I had initially booked this stay at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver as I am a member of Accor LTD. but decided to choose the St. Regis hoping to have another good experience. I won’t make that...
Read moreI am not in the habit of writing reviews or doing surveys, however, I feel compelled to write one for this hotel. My sister and I recently stayed at the St. Regis for the weekend and had a fabulous time.
The Staff: Very helpful and kind. Shout out to Brent or Bret that was working at the desk the day that we arrived; he was so kind and lovely - he made us feel very welcome and had a really lovely disposition. He also wrote us a really welcoming postcard, which we took home as a keepsake of this special little trip! Another big shout out to Calvin, who works in the dining room. He provided us with excellent service, conversation, and spot on directions and ideas, plus a little about the hotel’s history! Calvin, it was a pleasure! The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The fellow that worked the afternoon shift at the desk did not ever say hello. Twice I came into the hotel and sat in the lobby to wait for my sister and never once said hello. I still give the staff a five as when we asked him a question and he had to talk to us, he was quite nice, so I chalk it up to his personality and all of the unsavoury folks that enter the hotel on a daily basis that he has to deal with.
Location, Location, Location: Great location and felt safe. Close to Skytrain, touristy things within walking distance and great shopping,
Hotel: I am quite particular and look on the Bed Bug Registry before I choose a hotel. Thus one has no reports, which, in this day and age it’s unusual, as the cleanest and top hotels in the world are bound to get them. Our room was spotless! A huge shout out to the cleaning staff that kept this place spotless! I love, loved, loved that the little window in our room opened and brought in fresh air. We did not find it noisy at all. The shower gel, soap, lotion, etc., were all l’occitane which really makes a big difference, whether all you hotel owners out there think that it does not.
Would we stay here again? In...
